Looks like it was written by Obama's Justice Department.

I'm calling bullshit on the Canadian pastor prosecuted in the last few weeks. I think she's referencing something that happened five years ago in Saskatchewan, when a marriage commissioner (NOT a pastor) refused to marry a same-sex couple. He was fined and told that if he wants to perform civil marriages in Saskatchewan, he has to do it according to the law -- and the law in Saskatchewan says civil servants can't pick and choose who they want to serve. He didn't even lose his license to perform marriages.

Blame Canada... Yay!

Also, "Scandinavia" is falling apart? Wow, all those countries and nothing on the news. Shame.
4
The rating on Stevens' voting record re: civil rights and civil liberties according to the Seattle Metropolitan Elections Committee? 0 out of 5.

quelle surprise

The 39th district seems like a pretty miserable place, it practically floods every time an inch of rain of rain falls. What is God telling the people of the 39th who voted for this nutcase? Not to mention I'm pretty sure this place is about as Meth Capitol, U.S.A. as you can get.
6
Nice fear mongering: "they're coming for your children!!". Unfortunately, it'll probably work with a lot of people.
7
Didn't know much about val but googled her, found this, soooooo.much.anger:

The big gay boogey man is coming to get you and your children. First they tell you homosexuality is acceptable, and overnight, your children's schools will turn into big gay orgies. Seriously, it happened in Canada or Latvia or something.
9
@6:

And as soon as one of their kids finally musters up the courage to come out of the closet, they'll all point and scream like pod people, as that will essentially prove their point.
10
Thousands of years of sacred family tradition? Which ones? Males having concubines? Arranged marriages? And isn't Larry Stickney an odd role model if one is talking about the sacredness of family?
And Scandanavia is devestated? They score very well on quality of life surveys done by the OECD.... but Val probably thinks the OECD is a Commie plot.... Baaahhhhh!!!!!!
11
Face it, if she had to pick out where in the world Canada is on a globe, Susan Hutchinson would probably think it was in Europe.

What I learned:

NAMBLA is the not-so-secret secret organization all homosexuals work for.

Lesbians can't raise children because they would lack a father figure. Fortunately children of gay couples have two fathers and are raised to be twice as manly but are subjected to anal rape daily by their NAMBLA member parents.

Gays have been given too many of the special rights everyone else has.

There is a silent majority of gay-haters being held hostage in anticipation of the coming election.

NAMBLA wants nothing more than to allow two GROWN men or women to marry one another.

I feel as though some snarky comment would be appropriate, but this is just vile. I know all you can do with a person like this is wait her out, but if she spoke this way about any other group of people she'd be force to answer on the national stage, not just the SLOG.
14
Someday all of those "free-love 60s radicals" will be dead (all ten of them), and vampires like Stevens won't have that bogeyman to scare people with.
15
The letter has the Glen Beck "boil a frog" metaphor. Hmm I wonder if she watches fox?
16
Current Seattle City Councilmember Tim Burgess and Val Stevens worked for the same issues (she's the state director for Concerned Women for America). Only difference between Stevens and Burgess is that Burgess had to run as a stealth candidate in the City of Seattle. When Burgess ran many defended him with comments like "so what if he once opposed gay marriage." As you can see his activism with Concerned Women for America prior to running was far more vile than you even realized.
17
What she and Beck don't realize is that boiling frogs makes you that much more FRENCH!

They're falling right into our boy-touching hands.
18
its just another slippery-slope logic fail.
they're so very afraid of the unknown and immune to facts. and the inevitable.
19
Will @11: wrong topic, dipshit. Try to keep up.
20
I wonder if she knows that sodomy also includes oral sex?
21
The video that @7 posted is scaryfunnyweird. I guess my Seattle bubble keeps me oblivious to these bizarre views/TV programs, but jeebus christo. Watch or listen to the whole thing to have a midday freaky session. This Val person is actually an elected official, making decisions for us, how is that possible? OMG, she just said that our "high" taxes force both parents into the workforce, and therefore the kids are made perverted by all sorts of liberal influences. That's a two-fer for a republican!
22
I would respond in kind to Ms. Stevens, but I was brought up better than that, in a home with parents who valued all of their children.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/ed…

Bullet points from the article:

1. Stevens went beyond disagreement, recalling her attempts last year to amend a gay-rights bill to exempt such activities as bestiality and necrophilia, vulgarly implying they had something to do with gay rights."

2. Earlier in the week, she surprised school district officials from Snohomish and Skagit counties by declaring she disagreed with the state constitution's provision declaring education funding the state's "paramount duty."

3. And last summer, she told non-tribal residents of the Tulalip Indian Reservation they didn't have to cooperate with tribal police. She suggested, if they are pulled over, they don't even have to roll down their car window but should hold up a card that reads, "You don't have authority over me. I'm calling a law-enforcement officer from my own government."

Seeing a the color gay under every bed is perfectly in line with these previously noted views.

The people of the 39th need to raise enough funds next election cycle to run her out on rails.

Is Val Stevens a woman? Remember when Bruce Vilanch finally revealed the elusive homosexual agenda of which the straighties are so fearful? Check it out:

http://junkpower.blogspot.com/2006/11/to…

Her [his?] letter is so mean-spirited, uninformed and vitriol-laced, and is in fact itself an agenda for diving-under-the-bed fearfulness, shabbily treating others who intend you no harm, and crazily spreading stupidity the same way farmers spread manure - but since stupidity is odorless, stupid people don't notice cowshit when it arrives in the form of hatemail.

Yeah, you can teach kids to be homos the same way some kids used to be beaten for left-handedness - you just slap their wrists hard enough to make them limp. I slap you with my limp left wrist, Val.
26
@24 Thanks! I'm going to soil her in-box.
27
One can become a "fan" of Val Stevens on Facebook, where you can see her huge 78-person fan base.

28
So much to savor in her letter! So much Christian love!

I found this an interesting construction: "Senator Murray, one of the bill's homosexual sponsors". Some sort of dog-whistle innuendo about our "Democrat" Senator (and married mother)?
29
http://wa-demchairs.org/districts/distri…

what's sad is that some of my favorite places in the world are in the 39th, but none of my favorite people.
30
@28, she's referring to State Sen. Ed Murray, not Patty.
31
I'm quite aware of who Val is, I've met her a few times and even got her to vote for a bill (shocker).
32
Val, honey, you forgot to take your meds again.
33
Guess who lives in her district and just sent a scathing email to her office. I know it won't do any good, but I feel better at least. What a bitch!
34
Good god, this reads like a raise-a-moneython from the 700 club.

Please wait...
