What a great idea. Let's boycott Italy! (Except, um, I don't ever buy anything Italian anyway.)
2
Does that mean I have to avoid Italian food as well?
3
No pasta? Even Barilla comes from Italy.

That said, if anyone ever listens to what this horse's ass ever says, well, there's your answer.

Italy says, we could give a merda what you think Trump. Yankee, stay home!
4
How does Trump know she is innocent? Unless he knows that Glenn Beck did it or something, he probably doesn't really know.
5
My compromise: I hereby boycott Donald Trump until Knox is free.
6
Well if other prisoners think she is innocent then I am convinced!
7
I've been boycotting Italy ever since I visited and found that Italians are a bunch of rude fucks. Well, except for Sicily. Sicilians are friendly people. But yeah, I'm never going back, Italian wine sucks, and let's be real. It's not like we're importing a ton of Italian technology. Could be the easiest boycott ever.
8
A guy who just had to sell a bunch of shitty bankrupt Jersey casinos that are now operated by a certain Mr. Juliano is calling to "boycott Italy"? Hmm....
9
I would not believe a verdict from any courtroom with a cross on the wall.
10
Christ, I wish my parents were as well-connected as Amanda Knox's. First Maria Cantwell, now Donald Trump?
11
@7 A lot of higher end industrial plumbing parts, pumps, and motors come from Italy, as do a lot of the Metro buses. And gondola ski lifts. Not to mention espresso machines! It could be a boon for coffee shops that are running one of the oddball non-Italian machines.
12
@10: having trump spout off on his blog is not the same as 'being connected'. what good have those connections done them?

i hope the egoiste at least threw the defense fund a half mil.
13
I was kidding. If they were really smart they would have met a man in a leather jacket and sunglasses riding a Vespa outside the Colosseum at midnight before the trial, and handed him a bag with a "€" symbol on the side.
14
ah, yes... nothing welcomes the morning like some racism, served cold.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Italia…

"freedom fries" is hardly the first case of re-naming a foreign food in protest. Where did we get the Hot Dog from (formerly frankfurter)? Just happens that we still use the new term, which says something about how much we hate(d) the Nazis. Of course, "freedom fries" is patently stupid, but we all know that. Remember French's mustard's press release-- http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2003/03/27… --at the time? : we are very American! we are NOT french in any way!

@10

My thoughts exactly.

@12

Keep your eye on this case. This girl is not gonna be like all the other convicted murderers behind bars -just watch. She'll get out early, million dollar book deals from prison, etc - dunno exactly, but it'll be some kind of special something on account of the well-connected 'rents. Charles is sure to keep us updated on her every last move for the next, oh, 26 yrs-to-life so don't worry.
16
Free-za, Liber-ghe-ty, Tirami-USA, Ameri-retto. I think Perugina should have come out with special Panettone for the occasion: La Perugina Asesina.
17
I really like my sidi clipless bike shoes.....and merino wool sweaters....

oh yeah....and my ancestry....
18
I'm boycotting Milan as we speak.

Santa Barbara, here I come!
19
One has to ask one's self WHY. Why is Donald Trump even interested in this case? Is there some commonality between Trump and Knox? Could it be that $12,000 per year high school she went to? Could it be that pretty little rich girls don't murder? Or is it just that in this country pretty little rich girls get away with murder?
20
@17- At least you don't ride Campy.
21
Speaking of freedom fries....Italy has to be one of the most xenophobic, hysterical, and racist countries I've ever stepped foot in. I left Rome early after being called a monkey one too many times (I'm black btw). Italians aren't "anti-american" per se, just anti "not italian".
22
I find #19's comments really offensive. Many of us are interested and concerned about miscarriages of justice, whether they touch our lives directly or not. If we don't continue to care, we'll see even more injustice.

Think about movies like Paradise Lost, Capturing the Friedmans and After Innocence - all powerful movies about miscarriages of justice that attracted wide audiences. Think about all the debate surrounding the OJ case and the Duke lacrosse players.

And these days, many people have first-hand experience with the injustice of the justice system. Nearly everyone's had a friend or family member who was harmed by overzealous prosecution.

I for one am happy to see a celebrity speaking out on a serious topic. I wish more of them would.
23
Lucky Italy.
24
Anyone who has paid attention to the programs such as 20/20, and others that have shared information about the Amanda Knox case, knows that she was not given a fair trial. Not getting a fair trial should be enough for us all to have concern for this case. Anyone who hasn't kept up with the facts of this case should not even comment on it, keep your opinions to your self.
25
It looks Trump is looking for another wife already - Knox will do. Sseasoned prisoner and convivted killer. there you are - something new to kill time.
26
#22 Donald Trump a celebrity????? You mean that cow lick on his head and the highly intelligent comment to boot? Is that what celebrities in the USA are?
27
I think she`s guilty, unfortunately she told too many lies & left too many bloody foot prints. It will be interesting to read the official judges report in a couple of months explaining in detail how the verict was reached though & don`t forget she`s entitled to an automatic appeals process so you can still enjoy your Chianti a little longer Mr Trump.
28
Let's hope Trump is donating a hefty amount of his fortune to the Amanda Knox appeal so that her parents can continue the fight to prove her innocence and that of Sollecito.
29
i doubt that he is gonna cut a check anytime soon he is one cheap bastard, but i agree with you he should put his money where his mouth is.
30
As if donald trump has the last word on everything. I wonder if he'd feel differently if his daughter had been in Meredith's place? I wonder...
Boycott Italy.
Whatever.
31
I'm with the Donald...despite my usually thinking he's a jerk. The Italian "justice" system has been a joke for some time. It seems pretty apparent that they are just punishing "the American", as opposed to actually trying to find the person guilty. Yes, I am acquainted with the Knox family, so perhaps I'm biased, but it really stunk from day one how the Italians have handled this.
We really don't need anything Italian, here, anyhow. Let them sell to themselves, and save your travel for someplace a bit more entertaining, and welcoming.
32
To assume the Italians were being "anti- American" by sentencing Knox to prison doesn't hold much water- as they never hesitated to throw Knox's Italian boyfriend, Rudy in the slam.
I think the Italians sifted through the evidence provided thoroughly and came to their conclusions of guilty with ample clout. Did Knox do much, but lie when she was investigated and of course, accuse the black bartender of Meredith's murder.
Smells like the notorious Susan Smith to me. Remember little miss innocent- accusing a black man of jumping in her car and driving her children into the lake to drown; when it was actually Susan behind the wheel?
33
The prosecutor was in this case was just convicted of being a total nut job!
34
Please relax, Seattle people. Your Amanda will return to you a lot sooner than 26 years.

First, there are ample grounds for appeal on procedural grounds. All the money you're sending will buy her some top-notch appeals lawyers ... and the fact that Mignini is a nut job scheduled to be fitted for an orange jumpsuit himself, only helps.
Second, a 26 year sentence in Italy, just like in Oregon doesn't mean 26 years. In all likelihood, she would be out before OJ is released by Nevada (Now there, there was a railroad job, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!)
Third, I hope Amanda is busy writing. This will be the mother of all book-movie deals. Start soaking Jodie Foster in Oil of Olay and icing her ass down every night, could take a couple of years. Although, Amanda will want to play herself. Just a hunch.

When the Eyeties do eventually spring her, she will be that rarest of all Americans, actually fluent in a foreign language, even if it's the jailhouse version. Speaking of OJ, I can't wait for Amanda's update of that literary classic by OJ:
If I Had Done It.

35
Anybody with half-a brain knows this poor girl is 100% innocent. And the British Press have their heads up their collective asses.
Amanda never would have been brought to trial in the British system or here in the U.S. What a pathetic travesty! Trump is right. Boycott the corrupt Italians. They should be ashamed of themselves. THEY know she is innocent and the prosecutor is Al Capone reincarnated. Free this woman. Do the right thing. Let's send in the guys that axed Osama Bin Laden and just take her. Punch the wops in the balls. HARD. Teach them to screw with one of our innocent kids.
36
Thank God this moron dropped out from republican primary... Heaven knows what would have happened to this country he ever became the president.

Btw, Trump you moron, do Americans really have the money to spend on Italian tourism these days.???

Please wait...
