The mayor told C.R. Douglas:

“We’ve got to get real here, folks,” McGinn told SEATTLE CHANNEL host C.R. Douglas. “Longest deepest recession since the Great Depression. We do not have unlimited resources…We’re going to work hard to find where we can reduce costs in city government…Everything is on the table. But we are probably going to ask the citizens of the city if they want to see the services that they want on streets and parks and police and libraries and everything else, we may need a few more dollars too.”

This is not unexpected, given that the city probably won't get $12 million from a county sales tax proposal that looks dead, and the dire scenarios of an all-cuts budget.
