Canadian girls are so damn ugly most canadian boys turn gay.
2
That plus gay marriage.

Gay parents usually help a lot with educating their kids without all the guilt trips, so the kids don't end up getting pregnant as much.
3
yay for condoms on bananas in high school.
4
I thought the point of denying birth control to teenagers was to punish women for having pre-maritial sex. If women can control their own bodies and lives then how will their future husbands get along?
5
Reasons number 856 and 857 I'm proud to be Canadian.
And then I remember that Harper's in charge and the pride fades just a little...

2
Do you know how many gay married with teenage children families there are in all of Canada, Willie?
Actually, the real reason is because you are such a clueless ignorant diarrea-mouth pinheaded sack of shit.
And all of Canada thanks you.
7
@6 Do you know? I'd guess not, since facts don't seem to concern you.
8
@6 - Canada's already had gay divorces.

Per capita? A lot more than here.

Stop hating successful countries with higher GDP/capita ratios than us.

Guess what? Unregistered comments are collapsed. If we don't want to hear the ravings of idiots w/ nothing meaningful to contribute, we don't have to do anything. I didn't bother reading your post, and I never will. I can easily assume it was something stupid and/or cruel as the subject of sex education usually brings out the stupid/cruel in ignorant cowards.

Comprehensive sex education for teenagers works, period. In other shocking news, the earth is round & revolves around the sun.
10
What's the sun?

@9: The fact that the commenter was unregistered is a good indication of the lack of intelligent commentary within. The intellectual growth rate of the commenter cannot even be charted. He is treading water in a sea of retarded sexuality and bad poetry.

More to the point, though, I think there may be several factors in the drop in Canada's teen pregnancy rate. I agree that comprehensive sex education works, but it works best in places where the economy is stable and where parents and communities work with educators.

Education is never a bad thing. Unless you're the Vatican.

poor Rhett
you've let the troll get under your skin.....

just as we suspected....
No.
Can we tap your hot air to solve the energy crisis?

The best part is - most of the teen pregnancies are in Alberta. Which is kind of the backwards part of Canada, if you don't like to cross oceans.
18
Will, you're a fucking idiot. What the hell do oceans have to do with anything?

I read the unregistereds. There's no better surprise on SLOG than opening an anonymous comment, expecting it to be another incarnation of Alleged or a Period Hive Drone, and finding that some random Joe or Jane dropped in with something useful and/or informative to add.
Of course, the trolls also renew my lack of faith in humanity and keep me healthily cynical. So there's that, too.

Here in Utah, Orrin Hatch is celebrating the fact that he got $50 million dollars for his (worthless) abstinence-only "education". And today I registered 1 12-year-old, 2 13-year-olds, and 4 15-year-olds for birth classes and other pregnancy and welfare-related services. One of the 13-year-olds didn't even understand what having her period meant, nor how she got pregnant.
How's that for reality-based sex-ed?
Oh to be in Canada.....
21
I like this bit at the end: "The study also found about 50 per cent of all 16- and 17-year-olds are sexually active, according to Statistics Canada. That figure hasn't changed, McKay said."

So being birth control-savvy isn't making more teens run out and have sex, contrary to what the abstinence-oly nuts would have us believe.
22
@13 You've got a point there, Bubba, but it's on top of your head.
23
@17 um, why is that the best part? I'm confused...as someone who lives in Alberta...true, parts of AB are pretty redneck, but realistic sex ed is still part of every public school program.
I think a big difference these days is that girls in particular are very pro-active about their own protection. My daughter and her friends think nothing of buying boxes of condoms in case their boyfriends don't have them (I never did that...) and of course the pill and the morning after pill are readily available to teens at any medi-centre/pharmacy.
24
22 up early checking on the troll?
you've got it baaaad, Rhett.
25
@23 ALL of Alberta is pretty redneck. The big cities in Alberta like Edmonton and Calgary are about as cosmopolitan and liberal as towns of a couple thousand people in Ontario or Nova Scotia.
26
(hey dan, this is where you send a link to I support Sex Education in Ontario Facebook group

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11…

after Ontario's Premier SCRAPPED a forward thinking new sex ed policy. you know, one that treats gay sex like real sex kids might actually have, and need to know about BEFORE they have it)

Please wait...
