I'm surely breaking all sorts of internet etiquettes doing so, but it's good news! Remember how earlier this month, the American Academy of Pediatrics reversed its decades-long stance condemning female genital mutilation to flash a thumb of approval at "nicking" little girls' clitorises, calling it a "tradition that has existed since antiquity"?

Apparently, they got a lot of shit for that decision.

So now, less than a month later, they are reversing it. From the NY Times:

The policy statement ignited a storm of criticism from opponents of female genital cutting. Dr. Judith S. Palfrey, president of the academy, said: “We’re saying don’t do it. Do everything that you can to support that family in this tough time, but don’t be pulled into the procedure.”
