Marcee Stone, not Sharon Nelson (re MDC)

@1: Ack! Thanks. Fixing.
3
And Marcee was already endorsed by the King County Democrats on Tuesday night.

That so many "progressive" groups like Fuse are endorsing in a contested primary is utter bullshit. Only Marcee Stone refuses PAC money and has a record of getting the big money and special interest access/influence out of politics.

@ 4:

In what fantasy world is big money and special interest access/influence out of politics? The last legislative candidate around here who refused PAC money was Dick Kelley, in the 43rd. He finished dead last in the primary because he had no money to get his message to the voters.

PDC reveals that Stone has raised $11,865, has received in-kind contributions of $3,363.11, and has loaned her own campaign $5,000. She has spent $15,786.89 to date and has cash on hand of $4,441.22. She isn't taking money from PACS (that's spelled U-N-I-O-N-S in Democratic circles), and given that she has loaned her own campaign $5,000, which is more than $4,44.22, I'd say her campaign is in the hole right now.

In other words, she has brought a knife to a gunfight. Do you think the voters are naive enough to reward that brand of starry-eyed idealism in a power-politics District like the 34th, home of the elder Heavey, Dow Constantine, Joe McDermott, Eileen Cody, Sharon Nelson, Greg Nickels, and Tim Ceis? There just isn't enough of a goo-goo vote to save her. Stick a fork in her. She's done.

In contrast, Heavey has $20,692.76 on hand, and Fitzgibbon has $15,129.94 in cash on hand and many, many boots on the ground on the way. We all love Marcee, but she's in way over her head, and the primary vote totals will reflect that.

@4 What's her record? Last I checked there's still money in politics.

Yes, one person hasn't managed to fix the entirety of US politics in a few years. But she was instrumental in getting the Governor and Legislature to pass a local option law that lets local governments set up public financing systems again. Washington Public Campaigns has been working since then on a bill to create public financing for our judicial elections.

Please wait...
