So who was it that granted the permit for the Deep Water Horizon? Drum roll please. The Obama administration.

And just how did Mr. Obama react? Did he call in experts in the industry from other oil companies? No, he primarily sought consultation from academia and scientists. He's relying solely on the Coast Guard to assure that BP is doing it right and not the scrutiny of competitors in the industry.

If this happed under W's watch, it would have been plugged weeks ago.
