Thank you for writing this, Dominic. This is interesting and pertinent.

Well, Diaz? Even your boss is pointing fingers at you. You said you'd fix this -- hell, you convinced all of City Hall you'd fix this. And then what? What are you going to do?

It's slowly being dragged out that a large portion of strife in this city in regards to law and order is at the hands of the SPD by way of shoddy leadership. Even the DSA doesn't have much faith in you at this point. The people you serve and your own bosses are pretty much telling you to take charge or take a walk.

For yourself, your union and your police force, you should do the right thing and get busy on fixing this. Otherwise, even your union will be against you if even one ounce of trickle down blame gets them.

You took the job, so do it.

And as a Native American myself, I mean this with all my heart.

Are you any of these:

1. Black
2. Brown
3. Native

If so, the SPD will probably shoot you and not get charged for it. Or, if you're lucky, just kick the shit out of you while calling you racial slurs.

Ain't it nice living in Russia? Papers please.

I predict that absolutely nothing will happen, not even Ian Birk being tossed out to fend for himself, even if he's at fault in this shooting. The SPD has been (literally and figuratively) under so much fire in the past calendar year that I think they're going to ruthlessly draw in on themselves in response. This will end up before the courts, with the SPD on principle fighting anything and everything in the form of oversight tooth and nail.

CoSNAEA=CANOES?

Maybe "Committee of American Native Officeholders and Employees of Seattle" would be a better name if they want to use that acronym.

Please wait...
