South Dakota has no income tax, either, and it's a poorly-paved hell hole that gets businesses for just long enough for them to outsource and turns its universities into federal prisons.

Don't be like SD. I know Washington can do better.
2
The Illinois state income tax sure the hell didn't keep Boeing from moving HQ to Chi.
3
What people need to know is that the majority of rich people WANT to be taxed MORE. http://www.americablog.com/2010/09/poll-…
4
Dang, sometimes I'm really proud of the people in my profession...
5
Wealthy people dont create the jobs that most people want. If you want to be a peon/golfer/butler for some rich CEO, then thats a job for you! One of very few jobs that are created by mega rich CEOs. Not slamming the mega rich, but their wealth often produces very few jobs.

6
The recession started with Bush's tax breaks for the rich in place. So tell me please how maintaining tax breaks for the rich (in our case by maintaining a compartively regressive tax scheme) is supposed to help us out of the recession.
An imbecile is one who does the same thing over and over again exepcting different results.
7
Let me be straight with you, as @5 was.

Millionaires and Billionaires don't create US jobs.

Small businesses owned by people who rarely make $50,000 a year create around 90 percent of all US jobs.

In fact, since the Income Tax on the Rich reduces the tax burden on small business owners and the investor capitalists of the middle class who finance them, it will create MORE jobs than if the capital remains in the hands of the Rich and Ultra-Rich and is invested overseas in Brazil, Argentina, China, and India.

Which is where they are investing now, in case you didn't know.
8
The proposed tax is a tax on FORMER job creators. Expanding small businesses are not started or run by people making $200,000 or more.
9
i believe that 1098 would also eliminate or reduce the B&O tax, which would be a benefit to job creators, yes?
10
Let's just do a thought exercise, like I learned in Business school.

If you were a Millionaire or Billionaire, and you had $xxx, yyy, zzz lying around, would you:

a. invest it in America with an expected GDP of 2 percent.

b. invest it in Brazil or Argentina with an expected return of 10-15 percent.

c. invest it in China with an expected return of 8-10 percent.

or d. invest it in India with an expected return of 10-12 percent.

Everyone who chose option A, the More Jobs For America option, is NOT a millionaire or billionaire.
11
1098 is a tax cut for the wealth landed gentry.

People who sit on their arse all day shooting grouse from the castle window.

Munificent CEOs Steve and Jeff who created more high paying jobs in W.WA than all, are against 1098.

Microsoft and Amazon are the middle class job generators.

The oppose 1098.

Get the picture? Smell the coffee? Is there a light bulb on in the house?

Then Vote NO on 1098
12
@9 yes.
13
If you play by the rules and don't make trouble, a wealthy benefactor may give you a job bagging his groceries.
14
@11 How are they middle class job generators? Simply put, they are not.

The local coffee shop down the street that wants to open another location is a job generator. The screen printing business by your work who are working hard to ethically build their business are job generators.

According the SBA (federal agency) small business (non-farm, non-public) are responsible for 65% of the net job creation in this country for the last 15 years. We need to reinvest in these businesses that reinvest in their communities.
15
Ha, my agent wanted to send me on that audition, too! I declined it once I read that script.
16
Tax on job creators? More like tax on wealth extractors and money wasters. The more money a person has, the more they spend on expensive, useless things that make them no happier but might impress others, like a fourth vacation home or an expensive piece of art that they don't even like but that everyone else says is an icon of taste. Taking some of that money away and putting it to good use building infrastructure and educating kids would be doing everyone involved a favor. And remember, wealthies: if America falls apart, you go down with it.

Have pity on your dear rich neighbors. They own Congress and Olympia, pay a lower percentage in taxes than the middle class, and having gotten richer and richer, thanks to the Reagan and Bush tax cuts. But they're so sweet and kind. And you too might be rich some day. Not only should you oppose I-1098, you should also give them donations so they can give you a job.

Have pity on your dear rich neighbors. They own Congress and Olympia, pay a lower percentage in taxes than the middle class, and having gotten richer and richer, thanks to the Reagan and Bush tax cuts. Also, they don't pay Social Security taxes on most of the income, and their capital gains income is taxes at a lower rate than your earned income. But they're so sweet and kind. And you too might be rich some day. Not only should you oppose I-1098, you should also give them donations so they can give you a job. BTW, I have a bridge that you can buy.

Please wait...
