At my request, the mayor's office sent over a breakdown of all the calls and emails* they have received—to date as of yesterday—relating to the Chihuly musuem and other proposals vying for space at the Seattle Center's Fun Forest site. "We’ve got a huge number of calls from people for the Chihuly museum in the last couple days," says Aaron Pickus, spokesman for the mayor. "They’re definitely organizing. Phone calls and emails are more for the museum than against."

Here are the numbers from the mayor's office:

Chihuly pro: 170
Chihuly con: 116
KEXP/Open Platform pro: 90
Fun Forest pro: 41
NW Native Cultural Center pro: 7
Skating Rink pro: 2
Tiger Breeding Ground pro: 1
Open Platform alone: 3

Please note that tiger breeding ground has no cons. Meanwhile, council member Sally Bagshaw, who chairs the council's Parks and Seattle Center committee, has reportedly received approximately 1,500 calls and emails about the Seattle Center proposals, dating back to March. Their contents are still being tallied.

Although a review panel announced its recommendation for a Chihuly museum at Seattle Center last week, the ultimate decision rests with the mayor and city council, and the mayor has pledged to weigh public opinion when making his decision. You can email him here.

*The mayor's office just clarified that these numbers only represent emails. They say a tally of the calls are forthcoming.
