When it's someone they hate dying of a mysterious disease, it's God striking them down. When it's someone they like dying mysteriously, it's "spiritual wounds".
But seriously, if a person's spiritual condition had a corresponding effect on their physical being, he'd already be dead. Tongue-in-cheek, just for ratings, or whatever, it occurs to me that deliberately lying to deceive people from truth and reality would have a very corrosive effect on the soul.
You can’t injure the soul of someone and not have physical wounds appear eventually.
Especially when you are doing it to yourself... It's not like he's being "injured" by other people, it's his own chronic thought patterns that effect changes in one's own body. Duh.
Advanced syphilis--matches all the symptoms. Of course, I do wish Glenn Beck well. He's probably right, though. Hating that much can cause some pretty bad physical manifestations. Those spiritual wounds don't have to come from the outside.
I predict a slough of copycat ailments in his followers, and the devolution of his rallies (Possible? Yes!) into limping, blind exhibitions of How Liberalism Has Injured Us.
I'm voting Paresthesia, probably resulting from atherosclerosis.
"Paresthesia...is a sensation of tingling, pricking, or numbness...Paresthesias of the hands and feet are common, transient symptoms of the related conditions of hyperventilation syndrome, often open mouth, and panic attacks."
Open mouth? Check!
Panic? Check!
hyperventilating? Check!
I like @14's assessment. King Oedipus refused to see the truth in front of him, and was cursed with blindness as a result. Beck too is blind to the misery he causes and is damned to lose his eyesight. The Gods are heavy handed, but they are just.
I've thought about it...The whole stigmata thing is actually not a bad idea for his type of character. He's turning into something like Eli Sunday from "There Will Be Blood." All he needs is some Quaker or kundalini type spiritual syndrome and pretty soon he'll be doing Benny Hinn revivals.
Yep, I thought many of these things when I read this. Narcissism. Self-martyrdom. It's all the fault of the liberals. The liberals are injuring my soul and killing me. All of this just weeks before the Stewart/Colbert rallies. One may even perceive this as a call for revenge...
Y'all keep making the jump from the physical to spiritual too quickly. He does say that mental wounds are potentially tied in there too, and we ALL know how severely mentally wounded this asshole is.
I don't want to jump the gun here... I'm not a doctor, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess he's going first experience uncontrollable diarrhea on live television. But before he can run off screen to the bathroom, he will slip in it and fall face first into his own feces.
Due to the lack of sensation in his feet, he will be unable to right himself, and will proceed to vomit uncontrollably while repeatedly slipping and falling in his own diarrhea.
He will then likely resort to trying to crawl away from the cameras, but his poor eyesight will lead him directly into the news desk, where he will bump his head, lose traction on his own bile, and knock a heavy teleprompter over onto himself.
At this point, he will likely be stuck under the teleprompter gurgling out prayers to god between dry heaves, covered in his own excrement.
Bear in mind, I am not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure his bowels will then turn inside out and begin spilling out of his mouth while his eyes begin to produce copious amounts of mucous, and giant bubbles of snot will start collecting around his nose.
Then as he takes the last few breaths he can muster while trying to breath through his pustule coated trachea, one of his stage managers will drop a lead weight on his head in an effort to end the suffering. His bloated body will then explode into a paste of puss and phlegm that covers the camera lens, and the words 'technical difficulties' will appear on screen.
That's my inexperienced diagnosis. I got it from WebMD.
"But I believe that physical, mental, and spiritual are all tied. You can’t injure the soul of someone and not have physical wounds appear eventually."
I don't buy into Glen Beck's public persona. I can't get past the idea that this is one big performance art piece. I get the impression that he is laughing his ass off behind it all. And, making a ton of money in the process. Still, I don't wish him ill health, but then again I'm not convinced that he is physically ill. If I was going to wish something for him, then I'd wish for the demise of the career he's created with his public persona. Presently, I can only muster up pity for him.
@52 - kim, if you're right, and he doesn't truly believe the shit he spews, but he's just doing it for laughs...that makes him truly, deeply, terribly evil. in which case, he can go fucking die. i have no problem wishing death on an honestly evil person. if, on the other hand, he's just a fucktard who believes all the shit he spews, then i kinda feel sorry for him. one, cuz he's a fucktard, and two because it really sounds like MS to me, and MS fucking sucks.
@52: If you're really interested Kim, there's Alex Zaitchik's book "Common Nonsense: Glenn Beck and the Triumph of Ignorance" which is a well researched look at the man's career and makes a strong case for the "calculating believer" argument. You can listen to the cliffnotes on this episode of Point of Inquiy if you should so want: http://www.pointofinquiry.org/alexander_…
It's a scam. Beck is about to lose Goldline as an advertiser. The coming indictments will take care of that. So, he's setting up his next steady adveriser, some snake-oil/holy-water amulet/copper bracelet deal. (Whatever will be out of the FDA's jurisdiction.)
So, here he announces some horrible, spiritual-deficit-related disease, then later "discovers" the amazing cure, followed by appearances on the company's multitudinous ads for their very profitable product, for a generous endorsement fee, of course.
in the future Goldline-esque failure induced stigmata is going to be a thing...
so jump on it future shills that predict gloom and scary "govt takeovers" whilst being paid by the same people that blatantly exploit and profit off those fears ... laus deo.
I was hoping for paralysis of the vocal cords, followed by loss of muscle control in the hands. That way I'd never have to hear his words, nor see his words.
So - have his ratings dropped lately, or is this actually Karma biting his ass for all the lies, hypocrisy, and hatred he's spewed over the past few years?
Oh the irony...Imagine if Beck spent his fortune on snake oil, holy water, and copper magnetic bracelets, & insurance doesn't list "stigmata" as a covered ailment...He'd end up getting his fate decided by the death panels...
Does anyone here know anything about Glenn Beck besides hearsay?
The dreadfully erroneous comments made here tend to indicate that most Glenn Beck-phobics know very little about the actual man.
What's being fed to you is factually and contextually incorrect. You actually have to dig a little to find the truth, but who has time for that?
Are liberals really this cruel? I could never wish this kind of thing on someone, whether they disagree with me or not. I'm starting to wonder if compassion and tolerance is simply a conservative trait. The online liberal community seems to be comprised of some of the most rabid, bitter, and violent people in existence when it comes to how they deal with conservatives.
I happened upon this site. Can't believe the vile tone of most posters. Get a life. I don't like the guy either, and can't stand listening to his show, but I don't have the time or inclination to get as worked up as all of you. Chill out.
I was going to post the same thing. Why can't everyone be as compassionate as Glenn fucking Beck? It's not like conspiracy theories and dog whistle calls for the president's assassination aren't compassionate...
If he quits spewing his bullshit and goes to retire, leaving his minions and proving he's full of it, all would be revealed. He has to exit dramatically, unable to carry on his message to the people.
The guy is loaded and hopefully out of "new" levels of propaganda.
I honestly don't know what's going on in Glenn Beck's head, but I have say they guy is certainly good for a laugh. I listen to the radio shows where they play clips of his radio show and I always get the giggles. He's the campiest thing since Jack Webb.
Yes, I know there are people who take him seriously, and I feel sorry for them. I also think there are fewer of them than we are lead to believe. It's just that we cater to the screamers in this country. The weirder you are, the more attention you get.
In any event, I do hope this is some manageable affliction, or even a hoax. I don't wish Ill health on anyone. The most I ever hope for is that some people will be stricken with STFU syndrome.
LePlane, Maybe you hadn't noticed, but the target audience here of this publication is all the people that Glenn Beck hates. He has demonized every single one of us and our lib-tard anti-christian, moral ambiguity gay lovin' homosexual San Francisco values. Glenn says we are the evil scum that "Good America" must fight against in the name of God so that they may return this nation to the good graces of the Holy Spirit.
It should be fairly obvious that if Mr. Beck has any friends, here is not the place to look for him. To be honest, I don't really wish much ill-will on him, but I would sit there and watch him drown. His own ideology dictates he help himself out of trouble.
@66:"I'm starting to wonder if compassion and tolerance is simply a conservative trait."
You are out of your goddamn mind. Neither of those words have any place in modern conservative dogma, certainly not the sort pouring out of Beck. Try again.
@66--"Does anyone here know anything about Glenn Beck besides hearsay?"
I do know some important facts about him: He has very little post secondary education, less than one year of college. He's a divorced Catholic/re-married Mormon convert. He uses the tried-and-true Vick's Vapo-Rub trick to cry on camera.
He's seriously under-informed about history and civics compared to the experts he criticizes. He's a huge colossal hypocrite. And most of all, he's first, last, foremost and forever, a performer, neither a journalist nor a pundit.
You can't believe a word he says.
All that being said, he's a human being and I'm sure he does have his good points. For all I know, outside his professional life of lies and crocodile tears, he's a fine and decent person who I'd really enjoy playing D&D with.
If he really is sick, I wish him a swift and complete recovery from whatever he's got.
But I won't believe there's thing one wrong with him until I hear it from an actual reliable journalistic source.
@39 Well done, sir/madam. You are a good student. The only thing missing from your diagnosis would be Satan himself bursting out of his body after all is said and done, sweating, and exclaiming "Thank God Almighty, I am free at last!"
But seriously, if a person's spiritual condition had a corresponding effect on their physical being, he'd already be dead. Tongue-in-cheek, just for ratings, or whatever, it occurs to me that deliberately lying to deceive people from truth and reality would have a very corrosive effect on the soul.
He's trying to speak to these sinners but they refuse His message, and cling to their wicked, wicked ways.
Next, Michelle Malkin is going to lose her sense of smell, and then He's going after Ann Coulter's taste buds.
Thank you, I'll be hear all week -- try the veal!
Lucky for him he can afford health care.
Does this translate to liberals are destroying this country and it's making me go blind and lose feeling in my hands and feet?
Well, bully for you.
Yes.
"Paresthesia...is a sensation of tingling, pricking, or numbness...Paresthesias of the hands and feet are common, transient symptoms of the related conditions of hyperventilation syndrome, often open mouth, and panic attacks."

Panic? Check!

Wait...isn't O'Donnell a witch? Perhaps it's VOODOO!. After all, You can’t injure the soul of someone and not have physical wounds appear eventually.
Is it like being touched in the bathing suit area?

Including yourself, Beckola. Repent.
So, here he announces some horrible, spiritual-deficit-related disease, then later "discovers" the amazing cure, followed by appearances on the company's multitudinous ads for their very profitable product, for a generous endorsement fee, of course.
I think it sounds like a pretty severe case of lookatmeinosis.

Conservatives wish death panels on the underclass every single day.
