Not to be a downer, but I'm curious: did they deliberately choose to not appeal further or are they out of appeal avenues somehow...?

i don't forget that the us military is the most diverse workforce in the world.

i also don't forget that it's budget and size needs to be reduced by 2/3.

I'm waiting for a court to order the military to remove their ban on short people. Because short people have rights too.

I really wish the two major gay civil rights issues that people care about these days -- military and marriage -- weren't topics that I find so repugnant.

@3: They're working on reducing manning--sorry, "force shaping"--right now. The DoD wants DADT gone, but they probably wanted it gone a lot more when they weren't trying to shed people like mad anyway.
