I'm glad I read slog, because before, if I had heard the term "pole-smoking," I would have thought it referred to a *really* good pole dancer.
2
@1, or a really bad one.
3
Fnarf, I am doing well if I'm only a year behind the times, lexicon-wise, please don't confuse me. I've only just discovered that the "sick" movie my son watched was actually good, not really gross.
5
@4, yes.

@3, I was just referring to the only pole dancing I ever see, which is the kind that gets posted to Youtube because it features contusions and friction burns as the poor deluded young thing slips, falls and/or tears the pole out of the ceiling. I've never seen one actually *smoke*, but I expect to some day.
6
@4, there's always Grant Brissey and various other Line Out people, and on teh newsy side don't forget Brendan "Unions Are Ruining America" Kiley.
7
Ah, I get your drift (woosh...), and decided to do a little research, which led me to the following link (best part? the extra shoes hanging up on her wall like art), and to the realization that 5 minutes and 18 seconds are precious things, and shouldn't be wasted watching smoking pole dancing vids on Youtube.

If we're going to get all entymological, what is the difference between 'carpet' and 'rug'?
10
A rug is a toupee - you wouldn't want to munch that.
11
@9 A rug is what a bald man may choose to wear (but not gus, as his tresses are naturally luxurious), and a carpet is what must match the drapes, aka a Map of Tasmania...did that help?
12
True in every way, Canuck. @9, on the off chance you meant "entomological", I'd say what you find in your rug would be "lice", but once they show up in your carpet they're "crabs".
13
P.S. Canuck, you have found a winner in that YouTube user. I so enjoyed her pole dance to Johnny Cash's "Hurt" in memory of her late grandfather...

You know, Canuck, I love me some wimmins, desperately so, but the whole concept of pole dancing leaves me cold, questioning my commitment to heteroism, in fact. And whaddya know, I feel the same way about Pearl Jam too. Now let's get back to that carpet talk.
15
Cripes, gus, makes me feel like a negligent granddaughter...as I recall, my offerings were all crayon-based. Nothing says I miss you like 7 inch lucite heels and a pole-burn on the backside of one's knees...
16
So, what kind of carpet do you prefer, Fnarf? A tight broadloom, or shag? Or perhaps you prefer bare hardwood, with a runner down the middle?
18
I love to play Johnny Cash's "Hurt". I admire pole dancing for the physicality that is required, but prefer to dance without the pole.
19
Well, Sargon, once a month, when one's body answers the call of the tides...
20
@17, I'm sure they can hook you up at Remnant King in Ballard.

@16, I prefer a shag, in a nice 70s color like burnt orange, but it's just not practical. Collects crumbs.
21
Calling all gingers...
22
"Burnt orange" being an inept ginger on the pole, then?
23
Gah, it's like you read my mind, gus, if my mind were full of snappy rejoinders...
24
@4 & @6: you do realize that the staff also includes an art and production department, tech, distro, sales, copywriters, legal, etc. and nipper, right?

Please wait...
