I'm speechless. Almost. Because this does remind me of what another writer posted (Paul?) a week or so back about how the Pro-Choicers need to get graphically brutal about our cause, to counter the graphic images the anti-choice crowd uses to push their agenda, and show what really happens to women and families when abortions aren't available to them. I can't remember who wrote that, but I agree.
2
More accurately: Worst PSA placement ever. The ad for the cleaners is appropriate, the Public Service Announcement is not.
3
I think the people placing the ad have no idea what a coat hanger means to the pro-choice crowd.

I was taken to pro-life rallies as a kid, told to wave signs saying "god loves babies" or something, had my photo taken, all that. When I got to be a teenager, I read the pro-life newsletters. I think it was only when I became an adult and started to see the pro-choice side that I actually came across a coathanger in the context or abortion. It's not really presented in the pro-life crowd because they really don't want to consider the alternatives.

I say yes. Choose life = outlaw abortion = desperate pregnant women literally sticking these things inside themselves, then dying from infections.

Ideology meets cold, hard reality. The irony is stomach-turning. Ad placement fail.
5
On second thought, this must be fake. Even the anti-choice crowd can't be this clueless, cruel and insensitive. (I can't believe I just wrote that.)
6
Reminds me of good ol' Sid's Baby Furniture down in LA.
7
Back-alley abortions don't kill people, coat hangers do.

Choose life.
Choose a job.
Choose a career.
Choose a family.
Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers.

^ NO WIRE HANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11
If I came home and found a shirt hanging on this my first action would be to choose another dry cleaner.
12
You could interpret this ad 100% literally: Choose Life by not using this coat hanger. Save the life of your child and possibly yourself by not using this coat hanger for a dangerous, unsanitary, self-mutilating procedure. Of course, saying "Choose a real abortion in a regulated medical facility!" would be a bit more coherent.

@5,
Actually, yes, they truly are THAT clueless. Many of them wouldn't know what you were talking about if you mentioned coat hangers and back-alley abortions. Seriously. They don't study history, they don't keep up on current events, they don't travel more than 50 meters outside their isolated bubbles.

Not ALL of them are that ignorant, but a VAST number of them are.
14
With @13, they're totally real, I've seen them. We dropped off a coat to be cleaned with someone we hadn't used before because it had to be done, and....totally that exact coat hanger. You laugh to keep from screaming.
15
No wire hangers...

No Wire Hangers...EVER!!!!!

Where is the liberal-funded outreach?

Libs need to step up and spend on some money on this problem. We should have our own evidence-based pregnancy clinics in poor urban and rural areas, only ours should be staffed with actual doctors and nurses licensed to practice medicine, not a bunch of church clowns.

Can Planned Parenthood take donations? If the government won't collect the tax for it, fuck it, let's just pay for it ourselves.

Please wait...
