But then I went to the article and I felt less dumb:

the NYT writer on Maher's show a couple weeks back said that Wall St. felt "betrayed" by Obama, and that deep down, he doesn't "love" business.

By omission I gather that Wall Street isn't dumping that cash into Republican coffers, either. I imagine they're still hedging their bets on Obama being re-elected and waiting to see which sacrificial lamb runs against him.
