I made it zero seconds in.
2
I generally ignore you guys's "What Bachmann and Palin Have Said This Hour" posts, but that speech is completely amazingly wonderfully stupid. Thank you!
3
Fnarf toughed it out longer than I did
4
Yes and should she make it passed the primaries and wins the nomination, or loses and decides to run as a Tea Party canidate. When she loses the eletion, its not because most thought she was a jaw droping idiot, its because Democrats cant stand to see a women as a president. We cant stand their freedoms!
5
@4 Consider decaf. Or, spellcheck.
6
Meanwhile, the comment quoted, says it all. Could you be more on the nose?
7
I note with pleasure that website's moderator has accepted my comment, posted under the name of "Merkin Muffley".
8
I couldn't even finish reading the description of the clip. I do hope she runs, and wins the nomination, though. Some of us Dems are still looking for payback for that 1972 election. This is our best chance so far.
9
45 seconds. that belt buckle and her nasal tone did me in.
10
No, no, no, no, no, no. Life is too short.
11
I listened to the whole thing, god help me.

Short version:
"America is amazing, except where it isn't. We need to restore America to the days when Ward Cleaver was president, witches were burned at the stake, and you were free to make whatever choices you wanted as long as they complied with this Bible I just edited. Corporations are super awesome because they're kind enough to give us scrip to spend in the company store, and they'll always be the best at regulating themselves and guaranteeing our safety. Jesus, Jesus, America, Jesus!"
12
Whoa, she totally socked it to lamestream media!
13
Watching Sarah Palin talk is like watching a bulldog take a shit.
14
she does not stop talking... she creates the longest run-on sentence of all time
15
Sarah palin am got my wife vote real good. Want Sarah Palin for president run, wee need to know maybe soon she will President run for the Obama defeat not vote for Muslim president Obama.
16
I need to get one of them wife votes.
17
I lasted 05 seconds in and part of that was scrambling for the mouse.
18
13 sec.
19
What's a "wife vote"? Is it the vote your Obedient Christian Wife® casts under your watchful eye, effectively making it a second vote for you?

When you want to know how the fuck W got re*-elected...

*technically, elected.
20
Narcissistic psychpathy.
21
Stop posting about Sarah Palin.
22
@11: Excellent. And the first witch on the block will be...gosh, who could I have in mind?
23
I like it when she squeaks, "Ya know where REAL hope comes from? REAL hope comes from realizing what it is that God has blessed this country..." and the crowd - obviously not listening but hearing the word "God" - goes apeshit.
24
so what?

we'd still hit it.....
25
And yet you just can't stop generating posts about Sarah Palin.
26
I couldn't even start the video. I'm pretty sure whenever she speaks god kills a kitten.
27
I had to shut that video off shortly after the 2008 election cycle ended. Maybe even earlier...I can't remember the specific date.
28
@11 - Not even Bachmann's God can help you now.
29
Sorry - just ate lunch and want to keep it down where it belongs. I'd rather watch GWB stumble through a speech than listen to SP screech and babble, and I used to dive for the remote just about anytime he showed up on TV so that I wouldn't have to listen to him. Sad to say that he appears almost intelligent when compared to SP or the whackjob from Minnesota...
30
Mr. TVDinner called this a "speech salad."
31
Oh come ON! How can you NOT post about Sarah Palin! She's got it all. She's the perfect guiltless guilty pleasure.

She is the synthesis of the "The American Dream" and "Cautionary Tale" all rolled into one.

You know how it's fashionable to say the system is rigged and it's all just dumb luck that anybody gets wealthy?

HAH! Look at Sarah Palin. She pulled herself up by her bra straps, not with family connections, sure-as-shit not with brains—she didn't even have a plan more than "I want to be famous!"—but with venom, pure naked ambition, and ruthlessness.

See kids. Anybody can make it. You just need to be an ambitious blind-stupid sociopath, find your niche, and sell the fuck out in politics. And bang! You get your own TV show and a seven figure income.

America still works!
32
I made it just over a minute before wanting to scream. I still don't get how "smaller government" and "people's independence and rights" turns into forcibly shoving one's personal beliefs and religion and choices on another person. "MY GOD says abortions are bad, so even though you should be allowed to make your own choices, you shouldn't be allowed to choose the future of your life and body." AUGH! *head explodes*
33
@ 11 thanks.
34
She makes G.W.Bush sound like Shakespeare.
35
Well, I had a placid day so getting riled up was a strange interlude. I stuck it out, out of morbid fascination (as is usually the case). Besides what others have mentioned, there was that OMG I'm Mother Theresa moment around the 4 minute mark (you know, doin' stuff for others even when you'd rather be having a good time, but it's the right thing to do).

However, I thought I was going to throw up when she got to the America's got all the natural resources we need right here and, if only we give the private sector full control to take advantage of them, we'll have lots of jobs and ... yadda, yadda, fucking yadda. Uh ... Sarah, I hate to break it to you, but those alleged generators of future American prosperity for all are guilty of outsourcing, mostly because they can pay pennies a day for labour elsewhere when they'd need to pay dollars an hour at home. Ah, but I forgot how that'll be resolved: by eliminating that gosh-darn restrictive minimum wage thingy. /sarcasm with a touch of Buffy-speak.

Plus the usual head-in-the-sand rote babble about America being an exceptional country. Nope, we don't need to change anything ... merely restore the country to its former greatness.

L-o-n-g-e-s-t seven minutes of my life.

Okay, I need to bleach my brainz.
36
Aaaargh. Nary a solid coherent sentence to be found. My brain hurts.
37
Runnin' for the VP spot on the ticket (again), I tell ya!
38
@14: I attempted to transcribe her performance piece in prose format, but unfortunately it is simply unreadable. Instead, I transcribed it and formatted it as a performance poem of some kind:

We have the energy energy up there
that we can be producing
we can be supplying
to allow all of us
energy independence
energy security
we worked so hard on that
we worked hard on ethics reform
we worked hard on vetoing
the largest amounts of money
in our state's history
all those things that the lamestream media completely ignores and wants to dismiss

and yet

that set
a foundation
for what our administration was going to be
all about
and so it's very humbling
to know
that somebody would put such effort
into documenting what our team was able
to accomplish.

And it was a pretty simple agenda
it was all about
smaller
smarter
government
putting the faith
and the power
back into the people of our state
and of course
that needs to be
transitioned
into our nation where

the people of this country are empowered again
and individual rights
and freedoms
and responsibilities
are once again
embraced
by Americans

and that will bring us back
to the exceptional place
that America should be.

but
humbling to know that someone
has put such effort
into documenting
my efforts
but even more than that
at the same time
as
acknowledging
what this has documented
for me personally

is just the realization that
it's not about
me

the movie
I
s
not
about
m
e

it's about America's values
it's about work ethic
that you
here in Iowa
you all embrace
that work
ethic

this film really illustrates
a person
a people's desire
to be involved
in the greatest government
in our world's history

wanting to be involved
for the right reasons

here
in America
because we are
exceptional

our founding documents
our charters of liberty
created a blueprint
that would allow us
towards
more perfect of a union
if we would just follow this blueprint

so people wanting to be involved
in a democratic process within a republic
all of you
wanting to be involved
for the right reasons

that
that's what this film illustrates

got into politics
for the right reasons

stayed in politics
put up with what the media does
to all of us
for the right reasons

and it's to protect our Constitution
and it's to protect the opportunities
that we have here in America
that have made us so exceptional
and can continue
to allow us to be
an exceptional nation

and we don't need to transform
America

into anything else

we need to restore
all that is good
and free
about America

so what is so impressive
to me
about this film
is how
that is illustrated
not Sarah Palin
not even
my
record
but the values
that are embraced
held
by so many good
patriotic hardworking Americans

who understand freedom
who understand how important it is to fight
for freedom
for the opportunities
that God has given us here
we're not going to squander it
we're not going to blow it
we're gonna do it eeer
man,
we're gonna go down fighting
we go down with a lot of, yeah

what this film shows
is that in America
anyone
can make a difference

you don't need a title
you don't need a political position
anyone can make a difference
being willing to be involved
and to sacrifice much
to sacrifice reputation
to sacrifice time
of
of
leisure
and
and
perhaps
other things
that
you would love
to be
able
to do

but instead
you're going to put your efforts
into doing what's right for other people
providing great opportunities for other people
and that provides hope for other people
and that's what this country needs
not they hopey-changey stuff
that you heard about a few years ago
but real hope

and you know where real hope comes from?
Real hope comes from realizing
what it is
that God
has blessed
this country
with
realizing that He has shed His grace on thee
realizing what He has provided this country
and then
doing something about it

what He has provided America
we have the natural resources
we have the farmlands
we have the natural gas
and the coal

we have the resources to be
self-sufficient
we don't have to rely
on
on
Saudi Arabia
or Venezuela
on Peru

we don't have to rely on these foreign countries
to produce for America
we don't have to be subsidizing drilling
in Brazil
we have to just
our government

has to get out of the way
and let our private sector
do what it does
best
in responsibly developing our natural resources
and then creating jobs
our government needs to back off
and let the private sector
our job creators
grow more jobs
by keeping more of what we earn
so we can prioritize and reinvest
according to our own priorities

what God has provided us
with natural resources
with ingenuity
with land mass

here in America
with our founding documents
that are based on Judeo-Christian beliefs
based on time-tested truths

it's really quite a simple solution
if you consider what the problems are
facing America
if you could just get back to that
responsible development of natural resources
of letting our job creators do
what they do best
and of getting back
to those Judeo-Christian principles
that our founding documents were crafted
upon
those three
relatively simple things to do
will get America
back
on the right course

it's an honor to get to be
with you all today
for Todd
and for me
and for my friends
to get to be with you all today
in a place that gets it
you guys understand
that work ethic
that patriotism
those wonderful things about America
that maybe some others
in the land
certainly in our national government
our federal government
need to understand a bit more of
you can help em
share that message
I
hopefully this film
will help share this message
not about me
but about the values
of America
that make
us exceptional
and if we continue to embrace those values
and live 'em out
America
forever
being the light
the beacon of hope for other countries
looking to see what it is they can emulate
to
ultimately create a more prosperous
healthy and peaceful world
and American can be that light
again
an exceptional exceptional place

-Sarah Louise Palin, 2011
