Using data visualization and tracking data from King County Metro, slog tipper Josh has created an animated map of what cuts in metro service could look like if the King County Council doesn't approve a temporary two-year $20 vehicle license fee to close Metro's $60 million budget shortfall.

Here's a still from the animated map. Blue splotches are buses not affected by the proposed cuts; Red splotches are bus routes which will be cut entirely; Green splotches are buses that are facing reductions. Go watch the map in play here.

Remember: Red and green routes are facing cuts and/or elimination

If the KC council doesn't pass the fee, 600,000 hours of bus service—or 17 percent of Metro's entire system—would be eliminated over the next two years. There will be a public meeting to discuss the proposed cuts on Tuesday, July 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the King County Courthouse (516 3rd Avenue) in Council Chambers.
