Um... I don't think the one on the right should be left alone with children. The kicking? The slap in front of the face of the kid—who's being abused with food, if nothing else—that sends him scrambling to the other side of the couch? What goes on in that house when the video camera isn't on? What isn't getting posted on YouTube?
Seriously though, sometimes when crap like this goes viral, it still should be discussed. Remember when the girl kicked the puppy. Her video got her busted. http://bit.ly/cz1Uy4
I have to wonder if the kid has a glandular problem. I've seen some chubby toddlers, but that kid looks like he's over 40 lbs already.
@ 1, I didn't like the clap or nudging (NOT kicking - although it wasn't gentle, it wasn't kicking) either, but I'm not sure panic is in order, either. But, maybe it is.
I'm not too sure about the judgment of the one on the left, either. Wearing a thong in front of a kid, even if over normal clothes, would cross the line with most parents. (My gut reaction is that I wouldn't like it either, if that were my kid, but I'm having a hard time coming up with an enlightened reason for feeling that way. Probably just how I was brought up.)
If you replaced the music with some campy 60s song, this would be a John Waters film. If you replaced it with some dark, moody jazz, it'd be a David Lynch film. This works on so many levels.
That was offensive. That child's physical state is offensive. Morbidly obese toddlers disturb me to a striking degree. Whatever parent who doesn't change the feeding habits in concern with their children when they reach even half of the state of this disgusting example of gluttony needs to have their child removed from their "care".
this should be confiscated by police as evidence of severe child abuse and the parents should be persecuted for doing that to this kid.
Yeah, this video is in no way funny. Compulsive rocking like that is generally not a good sign in kids, developmentally speaking, and that kid is way, way too fat. Poor kid. I do hope CPS does a check on them; it seems like he could use some help, for sure. Sadly, there are so many situations like that, and worse. My sister worked for Head Start/Community Action in southern Ohio doing home visits and could tell some really, really sad stories.
The kids' life is fucked, obviously. His weight and correlating health problems are fucking depressing as all hell. But, dude, really, are we gonna get all worked up over his sister clapping in front of his face? Didn't any of you have older siblings? Were you older siblings? She didn't even touch him! She could have locked him out of the house on a dark, snowy night. Left him up on the roof. Strung him up by his toes and beaten him with the vaccuum hose. The shit that the older kids do to the younger ones when force-feeding-for-pâté-mommy-and-daddy are away is crazy. It's also called childhood.
Interesting that everyone is assuming that the kid is being overfed, especially considering that very young children don't overeat. Unlike adults and children over the age of five, younger kids know when they're full, instead of getting the signal 20 minutes after the fact.
I'm betting he has a medical condition. Even really fat babies don't get this fat.
@20: There are also toddlers who are taught from a very early age that food=affection.
I have to comment again because nobody mentioned the little guy rocking back and forth. He's NOT doing that because he likes the music. This child is in extreme mental distress.
Uhm, is everyone sure that he's a morbidly obese baby? He's obese alright, to a disturbing degree, but he's pretty damn big (height-wise) for a baby. The rocking and his reactions to events look like someone developmentally disabled. Either that or he suffers WAY more abuse than the obvious overfeeding and he rocks in response to trauma.
@9 -- the kid's a toddler or preschooler. Really, wearing at thong in front of him is no big deal. Underwear isn't child abuse -- but laughing while a kid lies prone on the floor and pretend-smacking him so that he scrambles over to the other side of the couch -- is.
Cripes, that was disturbing.
