The President of the United States of America asks to address a joint session of Congress. Congressional leaders accept. That's the way it works, regardless of party or politics. That's the way it's always worked. Until yesterday. Because Republicans are assholes. (At least, their leadership is.)

Republicans claim that the President, who will address the nation on jobs, was seeking to upstage a Republican presidential debate long scheduled for Wednesday night... as if Charlie Sheen Skyping about a bowel movement couldn't upstage that clown show. Instead, they've insisted the President speak the following night, coinciding with the kickoff of the new NFL season.

Like I said: Assholes.
