Sniveling fucking whining little bitches. Fuck 'em all.
2
And Obama couldn't muster the stones to overcome them.

It must suck to have your "savior" be such a pussy.

Reposting the majority of my comment from last night.

Obama should have said screw the House and simply addressed the Senate. It would have driven home the point that the Republicans in the House have not serious interest in actually governing.

In other words, it's a bit like the joke about the bar with a sign that said, "Make the elephant in the back laugh and win $1000." Dozens of people try and fail. One day a guy comes in, sees the sign and walks to the back. A few minutes later everyone bar hears the elephant trumpeting and laughing. The guy walks out and collects his $1000.

The bar changes the sign to read, "Make the elephant cry and win $1000. Lots of people try, again with no success. Finally the guy who made the elephant laugh returns to the bar, looks at the new sign and walks to the back room where the elephant stays. Within moments the elephant is heard weeping loudly.

The guy walks out to collect his $1000 and the bartender can't help but ask, "Hey buddy, how did you get the elephant to laugh AND cry?" The guy says, "The first time I walked back and told the elephant my dick was bigger than his. Then I proved it."

It's time for Obama to make the elephant cry.

Smarty, Obama got the joke backwards. He told the Republicans his dick was bigger than theirs, and they laughed. Then he proved it wasn't bigger than theirs, and he cried.

Fox News' take:

The timing of the speech isn’t really important as it relates to jobs. If Obama has been sitting on a bombshell plan that can win bipartisan accord in Congress it will be plenty discussed whenever and however he released it. If the plan is a bunch of small-scale policy retreads or a call for politically impossible large-scale measures or some combination of the two, the speech will be little more than a campaign ad in which Obama casts himself as the reasonable man battling an unreasonable system (Obama 2012: He too is very disappointed in how everything has worked out).

None of which means the Republicans aren't assholes, of course. But they've kinda got a point there.
6
@4 - Exactly. After I hit enter, I realized I should have said, "Obama lost another chance to make the elephant cry."
7
Assholes seems inadequate. Roaring assholes? Gaping assholes? Fucking ignorant, arrogant, backward, racist assholes?!? That's better
9
@8: Oh, he's Jimmy Carter 2.0, alright, and, barring some sort of miracle, will go down in flames just as badly (just check out his approval ratings). Who will replace him is another issue entirely. As of today, Romney still polls best in a head-to-head matchup. We shall see.
10
@9 Underestimation. Obama is clearly smarter than you think.
11
addressing a joint session is vastly overblowing it.
unless Obama is unveiling the War on Poverty or the New Deal he is going to look like a boob.....
12
@9 I disagree. He's Reagan 2.0. Obama's administration is the capstone to the Reagan revolution.

@10 It's not like I expected you to stop carrying water, but I don't even understand the relevancy of your response. You can be really smart, be wrong, and be an asshole all at the same time. Just ask Obama's friend Larry Summers.
13
let's fix this for you:

-- Goldy is an Asshole

"The President of the United States of America privately asks to address a joint session of Congress. Congressional leaders accept. Then the President announces the speech. That's the way it works, regardless of party or politics. That's the way it's always worked. Until yesterday. Because Obama is an inept fool. We feel sorry for him. And the Nation...."
14
10

Carter was smart too......
16
@11 We saw this with healthcare reform. He'll trot out some mediocre plan like patent reform and tax cuts. It'll be about as inspirational as this.
17
@15 Ok, that's great, but irrelevant.
18
Show me one example where Vince hasn't agreed with Obama.
20
@ 10 -- I keep waiting for Obama to show his mythic superpowers, but he seems more like the reincarnation of Mr. Lubner (god rest his soul).
21

When I want to say something, I wake up early and post it on the Internet. Then I go back to bed.

Obama needs a SLOG account.
22
Remember in 2004, when the Bush Administration announced the capture of a top al-Qaeda suspect just hours before John Kerry was to give his Democratic convention acceptance speech, even though the suspect had been captured four days earlier? The Bush boys had no shame or soul, unfortunately Obama does.
23
While I’m not sure that Boehner’s public display of firmness is in good taste, I have to admit that it’s impressive how long he’s managed to remain so hard and unyielding for such a long time, especially at his age. We’ll have to see how long he can keep it up without wilting or softening. The teabaggers need to be careful with the tightness of their grip, or he may not be able to last another year.
24
'Asshole' doesn't accurately portray the GOP. Terrorist is the word you're looking for. Or terrorist assholes. Or anti-American terrorist assholes. That sums it up.
25
I got a letter from the President, the other day. I opened and read it, it says he's a sucker. It says he wants to give a speech on Wednesday or whatever, picture me giving a damn, I said "How about Thursday?" (apologies to Public Enemy).
26
@18 I don't agree with him all the time. But he's so much better than the alternative, and so much smarter than the alternative, that I save my ctiticism for him directly in an email to the White House. For all of you, I give him all positive remarks because everything discussed here I happen to side with him or say nothing. It's what Reagan did when it came to fellow Republicans. The only Democrat I have zero patience for is Gadhafi's boyfriend Dennis Kucinich.
27
Republicans are assholes and democrats are ineffectual pussies. Everyone is playing their role so nicely.
28
@4 nailed it. If you're gonna enter a pissing contest, make sure your bladder is full or you look like an idiot.
29
you are what you eat.
30
Can we admit that he was trying to upstage the Republican debate? Please. It's ridiculous that he couldn't have done this the day before the debate.

Sure, agreeing to the joint session and then denying it was a dick thing to do, but seriously folks, Obama played the game and lost.

Hopefully this will piss him off enough to actually lead. Wouldn't it be nice to have a fucking leader in the political arena? Or maybe the whole country should be managed like we do here in the PacNW. Have something important to legislate? Make an initiative, have the people vote on it. What the hell do we elect politicians for if not to make the tough decisions?
31
No reason Obama can't address Congress on the 8th, to paraphrase his press secretary, “one football game of many that is on one channel of many is not enough reason not to have this speech at the time that Congress has invited him to give it”.
But what's stopping Obama from reading his teleprompter from the Oval Office any damn night he damn well pleases? He can't expect to commandeer the House's floor at will anytime he want to grandstand anymore than Boehner can expect to commandeer the Oval Office at will. Seems to me that polite guests come when invited...

Major miss-step by Obama who was trying to be sneaky and clever and wound up looking really really weak and pathetic... LOL.
32
The REAL (perceived) asshole is the one who caved. I mean, c'mon. That was WEAK ! Is he the President or not ??????
33
@31, Well stated. Obama is playing chess....with a chimp. And the chimp is winning.
34
@30 - The reason he couldn't address a joint session on the day before the debate is that Congress won't be in session the day before the debate. Of course, he could do the thing all our Congresspersons do -- address an empty chamber at midnight for the cameras -- but that's not quite the same thing, is it? Boehner initially agreed to the date and then, after the White House announced it, reneged. The Republicans are assholes but Obama should have called them on it, arranged with the major networks to pre-empt, and addressed the nation without the House Republicans sitting there acting bored, as they undoubtedly will. I wish to god the Democratic Party in general and Obama in particular would either grow a pair and use them or get an injection of steel in their damn backbones.

Can I add that it is eerily appropriate that Bailo's avatar features a raped and murdered woman. Albeit a fictional one.

Please wait...
