Republicans in Minnesota sent a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage to the ballot. The vote in Minnesota isn't until November of 2012—which might have been a mistake. With each passing day more and more Americans support marriage equality. And a reader in Minneapolis writes...

Every year, the State House of Representatives does a poll at the Minnesota State Fair, which has well over 100,000 people in attendance from all over the state, PER DAY for 13 days, to eat fried food on a stick and see the horses and cows and chickens and play with all the toys.

This year, a record 12,500 people took the poll. Question number 2 stated, "Should the state constitution be amended to define marriage as 'only a union of one man and one woman?' This question will be on the November 2012 ballot." An absolutely astounding 66.5% of people polled said "No." (The PDF of this year's state fair poll results is here.)

We can win this if we work hard enough. We really, really can.

We might be able to win this if the vote were this November. I'm confident that we can win it in November of next year—if we work hard enough.
