Mother Jones asked the rising Republican star (and black walnut ice cream spokesman) what he thinks of Occupy Wall Street. Cain's response is pure Cain:
I don't have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Don't blame Wall Street, don't blame the big banks, if you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself! It is not someoneâs fault if they succeeded.
Note the beginning with "I don't have facts to back this up." That's nice, because it absolves him of all guilt. If I had to sum up Herman Cain's presidential campaign to date in one sentence, it would be "I don't have facts to back this up." It's no wonder he's the current Republican darling. Compare that to Mitt Romney's bland, boring inflammatory statementâ"âI think itâs dangerous â this class warfareââand you'll see why Herman Cain is on the way up.
