I think it great sign of courtesy and cooperation if the protesters agreed to vacate at least one day a week so that city workers could hose down crud and piss, both in NYC and Seattle.
Obviously having mass arrests at a protest aren't going to go well no matter how lawful they would be. The focus needs to be less on the police and people need to stay on message. Come up with plans. Legislation. Getting the word out what this is for. Article 5 for campaign finance reform to cite an extreme idea.
If you're not a dick and don't cause problems, they'll have less of a reason to go through the pain of public humiliation if they start arresting. As I said before, stop making this about the cops. Cops will be a byproduct of any protest, and will only be aggravated if people act like twerps. I still think things would be easier if you went home every night and came back though.
MEET THE FLEA PARTY!
-WINGLESS, BLOODSUCKING AND PARASITIC
So far, the only major accomplishment of the "Occupy Seattle" protesters is that they have finally put an end to their previous initiative, "Occupy Our Mothers' Basements."
Why, Dominic! A far less generous man than I might think you were calling upon the protesters to OCCUPY WESTLAKE STATION!
Fortunately I know you would never imply that folks should get in out of the rain and occupy the nearby sheltered mall that links the surrounding privately-owned-corporate-business -- but was nevertheless built and PAID FOR by taxes on the the public citizenry.
I know you would never encourage that. (But someone who did, would definately be on the right track... )
None of this is productive, and I'm shocked that no one has pointed out that it costs ALL OF US, but mostly we middle class citizens who pay most of the taxes, thousands of dollars whenever one of these dipshits gets arrested.
one way to look at it; perhaps there is a concerted effort in many places to take some of the wind out of the sails right before the Oct 15 Day of Action?
@11, it has been pointed out, time and time again. But these imbeciles (that includes Dominic) think they are doing "The People" some great favor by moldering in their own filth down on Westlake and incurring huge amounts of cost to monitor and take care of this mess. What they CAN'T FUCKING GET INTO THEIR THICK SKULLS IS THAT THE PEOPLE DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THEIR ENCAMPMENT. There is no spontaneous uprising of The People. The People are not flocking to Westlake in support. The People are pretty much fucking resolutely ignoring these sad asswipes.
How are you missing what they are trying to say? The cops don't want to do anything, neither does the mayor. However neither can say they will simply allow illegal behavior. It's so fucking obvious stop worry and realize that they won't arrest you but consider that the situation could change immediately and everyone could get arrested.
Everyone's a little bit racist
Sometimes.
Doesn't mean we go
Around committing hate crimes.
Look around and you will find
No one's really color blind.
Maybe it's a fact
We all should face
Everyone makes judgments
Based on race.
Meanwhile, funding for transit in Seattle while the Deeply Borrowed Tunnel is built is still missing.
