I like the attitude of that second one, though, the one that ran back. Running back in when you know it's dangerous and you're already on your way out takes balls, and a life time of video games has taught me that kicking bad guys in the head is always the right thing to do.
I was there when this happened and ran over when I heard screaming. I think the assault had an element of sport too it; an opportunity to beat up some white alternative school kids, who were no match for the big kids I watched running away. The (adorable) boy who was beaten seemed awfully shook up and had a big split on his brow. My little kids saw most of the aftermath and are now afraid of miller field, previously their favorite place on earth. The racial element here is undeniable and very troubling. I always thought of miller as a place for everyone.
