Paul Ryan is supposed to be the brains of the Republican Party, in much the same way that Newt Gingrich used to be the brains of the Republican Party. Yesterday, Ryan released a report on income equality [PDF]. Unsurprisingly, it's full of the same old Republican talking points, gussied up with a few more misleading smarty-pants graphs. It's the same shit sandwich, though: Trickle-down economics, lowered taxes for everyone, and fixing the loopholes in the tax code.

The Washington Post has published a refutation of Ryan's plan, explaining the inflated numbers and regressive tax structures behind the report. The Ryan plan is going to be a huge Republican talking point for the next few months, so this is required reading for anyone who wants to be able to intelligently discuss the Republican strategy.
