Three days after her officers brutally pepper sprayed peaceful student protesters on the University of California Davis campus, UC Davis police chief Annette Spicuzza has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation. As the headline notes, Spicuzza had served as the assistant chief of police at the University of Washington, from 2000 to 2005.

Local girl makes good, and all that. Or bad, depending on which side you're on.

According to her LinkedIn page, Spicuzza was also one of the original lieutenants hired by Federal Way in 1996 "to assist in building the city's first police department," and before that served on the Kennewick police force. Immediately after the pepper spraying incident Spicuzza said she was "very proud" of her officers.

I don't really have anything to add; just thought I'd point out the local connection.
