Obama is the sole, single cause of our current economic problems.

There is no other blame but he.
2
Although I'm glad this nets more votes for Obama, the idea that blacks might be voting for him only because he's also black (well, half-black) annoys me as much as evangelical christians voting for their chosen nimrod only because he's also an evangelical christian.

America is full of a hell of a lot of ignorant fools.

@1: Riiiight.

How could you be black and vote for any of these republican assholes. At least if you're going to vote, vote for the guy who isn't fucking you over completely.
5
And yet, he's still going to be a one-term president. I'm afraid 44% won't win the election.
7
This post reminds me of a great speech that Jesse Jackson gave in Philadelphia back in 1984. He equates votes of unregistered people with "rocks just laying around," capable of doing damage to the glass ceiling.

I showed the video to my students, and they were amazed that such a powerful speaker ran for President "way back then."

he could strangle puppies on tv and still win in november. the republicans don't have a reagan to put up against him, and obama's no carter.

the economy sucks, but he stopped the free-fall. considering the fraud and greed of the finance industry, crisis in the EU, and fucking republicans abdicating logic and responsibility, it's actually doing remarkably well. expecting it to be back where it was during an unsustainable bubble is just plain stupid.

of course, so is america. it now puts up with a 3 year campaign for a 4 year office.
10
True, blip (although Perot was in the race when Clinton won). But it remains to be seen how many of that 44% will actually get off their asses and vote, too.
11
What the 44% represent are people that Obama plunged into a state of permanent nanny-state dependency.

Obama created a class of voters designed to vote democrat by insuring they would never find private sector work and would have to keep voting in Democrats to feed them with benefits.

12
It's naive to think that *no one* blames Obama for the mess we're in. Just look at @1. It's delusional and incorrect to blame him for the mess we're in, but being stupid and wrong hasn't stopped conservatives in the past.

#12

During 2008-2010 when Obama had an unassailable supermajority in the Congress, and everyone was on his side, what dynamic action did he take to reform the economy?

Yep.

I was talking with a cousin who is a Republican (and works for Wall Street) and he says, "Anyone but Obama." I tried to get him to pick one Republican but he wouldn't - just not Obama.

He asked me what grade I would give Obama and I said B- or C+, given what he walked into coming off Bush.

But then I said, look, Obama is a good president, not great. But one thing he IS great at is campaigning. He will wipe the floor with any of them in a debate (except maybe Newt but Newt is also a douche bag so that would cancel out any benefits of his smarts).

Obama has been raising money and when people get a good look at what the Republicans are offering, well, I wouldn't bet the bank on Obama being a one-termer.

Fifty-Two-Eighty:
Your writings give off the appearance of someone who has a vested interest in Obama being a one-termer.
16
Not at all, Keekee. Just calling it like I see it. In fact, I'd really love to see the heads of all those Republicans who really hate Obama explode next November. I just think the odds of that happening aren't real high.
17
This is why the Republicans are trying so hard to suppress the vote.
18
Obama really doesn’t enjoy being president, or at least getting down in the mud and being proactive.

Take the supercommittee that just closed up shop. I heard they didn’t want Obama butting in, but that’s exactly what the president (or any president) should have done. He should have had weekly meetings with them to at least get a semblance of something on paper. Now he can fall back into a soft pillow and blame the republicans for not budging on revenue (but he never really tried, with vigor and daily venting, to convince them). You hear these sentiments from democrats, not just republicans.

The election is Obama’s to loose, and he will and should if he keeps cultivating this Wilsonian attitude.
19
The "just because he's black" theory is bogus. I doubt very many black Americans would vote for Herman Cain over Hillary Clinton in a presidential election.
20
@13: "unassailable super-majority"? they had 60 democratic senators for about 2 seconds after al franken was finally seated and before ted kennedy died. even then there was baucus and lieberman.

21
hey guess what! whoever gets elected is going to totally fuck the populace for the benefit of corporations & banks. it is just a question of how hard & fast you like to get fucked. harder & faster, go republican. still pretty fucking hard & fast, go obama.
23
Charles,
Wow, you are almost giddy about that stat. Fair enough. I have no problem with Dems rallying around their candidate. But, @2 has a point. I have reservations about voters voting for a candidate only because they share the same racial heritage. Sure Obama remains the frontrunner. However, it's a year until the general election. And, it is a very long time. We'll see.
24
5280, a Generic Republican Candidate would have a good chance against Obama. However, I don't see any of the current candidates having a snowball's chance in hell except for El Romnito.
25
better picture would be compared to voter suppression efforts nationwide since 2010-granted, NC legislature failed to override governors veto in '10. Overall, I SUSPECT (conjecture+accumulated wisdom, if any), that nationwide has been for the greater part successful.

Please wait...
