See, if it was BC, nobody would care.

Ontario is way too prudish.
2
It's pretty great that you can probably get away with spending $167,000 as long as none of it's for a dildo.

Reading-comprehension fail @1.

@2, $170K is a pretty sweet expense ticket for a city of less than 50,000.

"Davis was in Toronto for a recruitment trip." What does a small-city Mississippi mayor recruit for in Toronto, exactly?

@ 1
Will, this has NOTHING to do with my province's (or city's) prudery (prove it, please), but everything to do with that idiot's hypocrisy, not to mention total arrogance in buying sex toys (or whatever he purchased at Priape) and then billing them as legitimate work-related expenses.

All he had to do was pay cash and this wouldn't have happened. OTOH, I'm glad he was caught. Schadenfreude, baby!
5
He really is a conservative! That's the funny part! The really funny part!!!
6
@3 dick apparently.

I have been gobsmacked at how all the attention has been over the single dildo purchase and not the FUCKING SHEER AMOUNT OF MONEY A SMALL TOWN MAYOR IS CHUCKING AROUND.

I mean WHAT THE FUCK?? I find this part as bad/hypocritical as the rest of it. If I lived in that town, I'd be turning a huge stink-eye to whoever controls expenses and accounting... Yes, he's said he's paying them back, but how could he even expense that in the first place??

Wow. Just wow.

@7 mental health therapy.

They have health care up there, you know.
9
@8 well shoot, I should run for mayor in my town. It's a much bigger town -- I should be able to expense a lot more than that! I'll just have to be careful to pay cash for dildos.
10
@8 Mississippi is "up there"?
11
Priape isn't all sex toys and gear. They sell those ridiculous bedazzled jeans and Ed Hardy-esque shirts you see outside R Place on a Friday night.

Then again, Priape does custom leather stuff...
12
@3 - Maybe he was there for the faaaaaaabulous prices. 70 bucks won't buy you much at any sex shop I've ever been to, but then, I've never been to Toronto.
13
@10, Will never reads the articles. He still thinks this is a scandal about the mayor of Toronto buying a sex toy, not a mayor from Mississippi blowing through $170,000 of his town's money on himself.
14
Of course it's company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo... always use the indefinite article a dildo, never your dildo.
15
Just curious, but is Mississippi one of those states where its illegal to own "too many" dildos? Or sell them?
16
I give the guy a bit of credit, though. At least he admits he's gay and is now open about it. He's not doing one of those "It was for research" or "he was just lifting my luggage" routines. He's not a George Rekkers or Larry Craig or Marcus Bachman. He now has to answer for his past record and move forward as an openly gay man, so at least give him credit for summoning the courage, better later than never.

Guess what the maiden name of his ex-wife Suzann is, Dan...

It's Savage! You're related!

Please wait...
