In North Carolina, EVERYTHING is celebrated by the firing of weapons. Just like in the Middle East!!
2
It's nice that they have to stand still for extended periods of time while the photographer gets them in focus--gives those gay sharpshooters more time to drill 'em.
3
Well, c'mon...it is an election year. They have to find a way to frighten Cleetus and Brandeen into voting neo-fascist Republican.

Awesome comment, Dan.

This picture is horrifying. Isn't there a law in the States that prohibits putting crosshairs over people, or people's names ? Shit, that's an "incitment to crime" image if I ever saw one. With all the loonies around, it's bound to give some morons a very bad idea.

Maybe the North Carolina Family Policy Council hopes that a profoundly disturbed gay (like someone who's suffered through those killing so-called therapies) will do what they're asking for, so that they'll feel morally obligated to launch their gay-lynching squads all over the place ?

They are sowing hate. That image should be pulled.

Gay marriage is only the first small step towards the annihilation of the human race. Elimination of the most fecund breeding pairs is a regrettable but necessary stage before sterilization at puberty becomes mandated by law. Sportsmanlike gays will generally only bag the female for this reason.
6
All breeders should dress in nothing but wedding attire. "I'm Spartacus!"
7
Crosshairs???? All I see is a survey marker.
9
If you are gonig to have your wedding pictures done in a field of wheat you should be shot.
10
Duh, Dan.

11
Well, now I know what I'm doing this weekend.
12
Google image search "camo wedding." It's awful!
13
How very Palin-esque of you, Dan.
14
oh... nevermind sorry!

Besides, don't they know we have gay rainbow grenade launchers. Straight marriage doesn't stand a chance against the fabulousness of gay weddings.
16
They better watch out or they may step on a glitter bomb landmine.
17
I thought one reason the repubs hate equal-rights supporting liberals is that liberals aren't generally gun-lovers (aren't we after their guns or somehting like that?)

So wouldn't a more apt graphic be a rainbow over the newlywed couple?
18
The groom in that picture is totally gay. (No kissing on the lips --- GIRL GERMS)
19
@17 - A more apt graphic probably should have been an interracial gay couple wearing only rainbow speedos french kissing standing in a field full of (legal) marijuana getting married by a muslim terrorist wearing a dynamite-loaded vest. That's what they are really trying to get across here. The crosshairs over a married couple is their attempt at being subtle. And they nailed it!
20
OK folks get a grip, we're only shooting fundi xian breeder newlyweds, so that we can adopt the children, from their earlier relationships, cause them to choose the Gay-socialist-hollywood-liberal-secular-progressive lifestyle, and then become foot soldiers in the war on xmas...
21
Just goes to show, just because we are gay doesn't mean we can't shoot straight.
23
Is this some kind of extremely ill-advised attempt to play on Palin's crosshair'd hit list and the shitstorm over it after the Tucson shootings?

Bad fucking form.
24
I've known a few straight people ...and I can tell you they are WEIRD!
25
@21: Fortunate: That one had me chucking. Thanks!
26
I can't repress the sudden image of a group of gunslingers all looking like Dan Savage shootin' straight couples just for the hell of it. Yee-haw.

All those statements about marriage being in danger, and no explicit statement of what the danger is, what exactly will happen to straight marriages -- either already extant or to be celebrated in the future -- if ever marriage equality becomes widespread in the US. The best we get is some 'this is part of a general tendency for our mores to go downhill, which will end up destroying the best things in our society: commitment, love, etc.' which is vague and abstract and impossible to trace down to Teh Gayz and their marriages (besides confusing irresponsibility with sexual orientation).

I suppose it must really take some sort of doublethink to go around claiming marriage is threatened without actually being able to explain what the harm is that the supposed 'threat' is going to do. Change the meaning of a word? Is that it -- semantic terrorism?
27
@26
And it isn't even changing the meaning of a word in the sense that that idea usually means.

Because if a man is married to a woman, then "marriage" means exactly the same thing it did before.

All it takes away is the presumption that wearing a wedding ring automatically means you're straight.

Which, of course, before any same sex couples were allowed to be married, was ALWAYS true. (BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!).
28
@26: There is no danger, and no one believes in any sort of danger. The fear is just part of the larger fear-addiction complex/persecution complex of the Right wing (Muslims! Socialists! Secularists! Brown people! Reefer! Education! BARACK OBAMA EMBODIES EVERY ONE OF THOSE!!!) and not really in any way rational or specific. However, "We want to oppress the faggots and shove them all back in the closet," doesn't play as well on prime time, so they need a message about concern for straight rights or other stupid, nonsensical shit to use as a rationalization. I vote for ending attempts to use logic or rational arguments to combat irrational non sequiturs posing as arguments. Instead, just ask them why they hate freedom and families.
29
If you are an oppressor and you live/work/have your being in a world that frowns on oppression, the politicaly smart move is to pose as the the victim. EVERYONE feels like a victim these latter days, and so will feel a kinship toweards your and your "complaint." Wasn't that the logic behind the straight white men suing because they couldn't get into med school (a truly zero-sum game)?

Please wait...
