"A handful of medical marijuana activists—who have been claiming that the DUI provision and the home growing provisions would be too strict—are most likely delighted to see legalization struggling."

These paranoid idiots will probably be the death of this initiative.
2
Decreasing the pot priority with law enforcement has removed the urgency for legalization.

@2 in Seattle, sure.
5
Could it be people just got fed up from being harassed for signatures 24-7 by a bunch of stoners outside every market?
6
#5: Or it could just be that people are fucking stupid and/or polling doesn't really effectively show anything.

Dominic Holden has devolved into a shameless hack for a badly written initiative. He simply cares nothing about the fact that I-502 (a 502 is a DUI in California) creates a law that will convict people who are NOT GUILTY. He dismisses that aspect, never really examining the truth.

Somehow we are supposed to believe that I-502 will create justice, when in reality it will create a new situation where every single pot user will be technically guilty of a DUI every time they drive.

Holden attacks reformers, calling them names, and suggesting that they are merely acting on their own selfish motivations, not actually wanting pot to be legalized at all. He acts as if it is a moral crime to disagree with a bill that has any aspect of reform in it. He badgers folks for having an opinion that deviates from his, as if their decades of activism does not qualify them to scrutinize a reform bill.

Is there anything lower than turning on your old community and attacking and ridiculing them for being consistent in their long struggle for fair, accurate and SCIENCE BASED cannabis law? I mean, come on, these folks have been in the trenches trying to REMOVE ALL PENALTIES concerning marijuana use and possession, even cultivation.

You goose stepping supporters of Holden's vitriol blithely level your own petty, pissy assaults as if you have a fucking clue what the real issue is. Fuck you too, assholes!

Yes, create a law that convicts people of a DUI based upon an insanely unscientific blood THC nanogram level because polling says that will help the initiative win. Holden thinks it is A-OK to convict drivers of a DUI based upon these flawed numbers. He doesn't give a shit about patients or stoners being falsely convicted.

Oh yes, we are dancing in the streets to see statewide support for legalization slipping. That sucking sound you hear is....well.... never mind.

Dominic, look up, way up there, can you see it? Look real hard, squint your eyes - way up there, reach for it and try to pull yourself up there. You can do it, you can climb up out of that hole and reach.... the gutter.

I think Dominic's interpretation of, "statistically insignificant", is misidentified. The author(s) of the poll report implies only that the difference of 48% vs 54% does not reliably show a slip in support for marijuana legalization. I can't assume which test the poll author(s) applied to reach this inference. However, since the two questions were poised differently, I believe the comparison of the percentages themselves cannot be relied upon any further that circumstantially, which is as far as the report author went.

As to word choice, Dominic is correct to draw a line between simply, 'support', and, 'move to support', as in vote for. The within-group breakdown of party affiliation, age, and gender is something to take note of, but the numbers are terribly striking.

And that's exactly why they will never succeed.

@9 Stoners are their own worst enemies when it comes to legalization.

It's over ten years old, but this joke is still relevant. (yes, that is seandr in the booth)

I agree there is a big difference between supporting a nebulous idea and voting for a specific initiative.

I am strongly for ending the state monopoly on liqueur sales and for the end of marijuana prohibition as general concepts. However, I voted against the liqueur initiative last year because it was so poorly written and basically just hands over a monopoly to Costco. I also have strong misgivings about the flaws in the current proposed Initiative 502, and haven't yet decided whether to vote for it or not.
12
We have to persuade voters to vote yes on I-502!!

California voted no on Prop 19 because it was poorly worded and too restrictive. A residence can't vote but 4 legal adults living in a single residence get the shaft under prop 19. So yeah, it was a good thing that they were willing to wit for a real change of law to vote on.
Washington voters have an opportunity to do likewise take this as it is with no cannabis consumer allowed to drive, virtually ever and no personal cultivation that in itself is a red flag you have to buy the governments product or approved product. the Average citizen isn't competent enough to honestly vote much less grow a plant. This is why the government feels the need to restrict what we can and can't do. To the governing bodies, we are all guilty criminals they just haven't gotten enough proof to incarcerate everyone yet. I know, it sounds crazy, but if you look at the whole situation honestly it still doesn't make sense except to portray the government as transitioning to a police state/Communist/Socialist regime.

Yes on Legalization, no on I-502.
16
It's not being. Paranoid idiot to be against a law that criminalizes driving while sober. Most medical patients are at twice the proposed limit after a week of NOT smoking. This law will do a lot more harm then good.
17
There is Nothing stupid or paranoid about being against a bill that would criminalize SobER driving! Many medical patients test at more than twice the proposed level after 7 days WITHOUT cannabis. Anyone whose ever used cannabis can tell yOu it doesn't impare you for weeks so why should be subject to a DUID weeks later!

"are most likely lighting up their spliffs to celebrate"

To be honest I was going to do this anyway. There's is nothing on this planet that can stop this plant, I don't much think cops need more authority to lock more innocent people up, like we always need to trade one innocent group of people for the next. The alternative to this bill is way, way, way worse but I'm rather over trying to preach to other people about my freedom, a freedom they feel they have every right to take away. They can't take it away from me no matter how hard they try, it's just really cute to watch them try. If you want to make bad legislation I can stay home or just not vote on that issue. Have you ever submitted a blank voters card? It feels like a sign of the time. Absolutely no confidence, please stop taking my tax money you pigs.

Dominic must like the sort of attention he got from Lee at the Horses Ass.... Dom continues to diss MMJ patients with vigor. Dominic, I am an activist, have been for a while. I certainly have been involved in promoting legalization for a while as well, with some positive results for my efforts. In my opinion, 502 is very poorly done and.an insult to the concept of a legal regulated cannabis industry. It seems to be a attempt to destroy the industries strengths by selling them off to the corporate antithesis of our values. I would like for you to debate this issue in a public forum sponsored by the Cannabis Defense Coalition.. I challenge you to this debate, mano a mano,

To all of those saying still test positive after 7 days. Just to let you know, they will be testing for active thc, not the metabolite (which can be detected a month after consumption).

Even though I don't support this part of the Initiative, I feel the material should be presented correctly.
I-502 states that anyone tested over 5ng of active THC to a ml of blood, will be given a DUI.
Now that being said, the average "user" will have approximately 300ng/ml, and after 5 hours still have approximately 35ng/ml (one report said).

So if you do wake and bake like a lot of us do, it will be impossible to drive.
What is ridiculous is the fact that there has been a report out of Colorado that stated Driving while high is like driving with 0.05% blood alcohol concentration. WHICH IS LEGAL! source: http://norml.org/library/item/cannabis-a…

*I'm not sure if i will vote yes or no for this initiative. I'll have to toke on it.
