Her attendance was absolutely pathetic while she tried to do both, the Congress and the Presidency are both focused on national issues, and Minneapolis-St. Paul is an easier commute to DC than Seattle is. If anything, choosing to give up the position shows his commitment to running for Governor.

@1, I almost admire your refusal to examine your own thoughts before typing them out for us here. Bachmann's campaign was one long lesson in what not to do if you care about winning office.

I assume she's real, but her comments have the feel of a satirical algorithm that renders up a 90 year old republican crone. But you never know, there's a few still kickin'.

@3, @4: Did I provide commentary? No, I simply stated that if a presidential candidate can multitask a congressional seat, a gubernatorial candidate should be able to do the same.
So let me substitute John F. Kennedy who won the presidency while staying in Congress as a Senator.

Any speculation yet on who could be appointed to fill Inslee's seat for the remainder?

@7: According to KOMO, his seat will remain vacant until the November election, leaving his constituents will be without representation.

Yeah because that one Democrat in the House, splitting time between coasts, was going to make such a difference between now and November.

Inslee was a minority democrat in a majority republican house, in one of the most polarized congresses in history. Pretty much any congressional vote he might have taken between now and November would have been like pissing in the wind.

This was a smart move.

@8, There will be no appointment or special election—Inslee's seat will remain vacant. That said, his offices will remain open, and constituent services will continue to be provided.

Phoebe: Barack Obama was roundly criticized by Republicans for NOT giving up his Senate seat while running for president, thus depriving his constituents of a fulltime senator.

It's not like Inslee accomplished anything while in congress. Would anyone notice him gone? Mind you, come next January he'll wish he kept his day job.
