good, I'm glad he didn't back pedal. talk about shooting yourself in the foot!
2
It';s ironic. because LaPierre says that the only ;people who shoot people are crazy. So, if we are supposed to call him crazy, does this mean he shoots people?
3
What? I thought the NRA was all about preserving an individuals right to arms in the face of a possibly tyrannical government and now they advocate an this kind of government expansion? F N A
4
Wait a minute. You're living in a fantasy world where you think some form of meaningful gun control is actually possible in this country, and you're calling him crazy? Wow.
5
Wayne LaPierre - Not just crazy... A crazy, fascist Fuckstick. From Loonytoonistan.
6
Goldy, LaPierre is not going to fuck you.
Go back to bed......
7
@5280, did tou see the news out of New York State this morning? Two firefighters shot dead while responding to a fire.

As long as your crazy brethren with guns and inferiority complexes continue shooting people dead, meaningful gun reform WILL get the support it needs to become reality.

National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre plan to make schools in the US safer ends on star date 5730.2

The rest of us should go ahead and grab a towel and move to a planet circling Tau Ceti. It's 4.3 the mass of earth, so, it might have extra bathrooms.

Fuck it, let's move.
9
His full quote: "Hey - this is America! And I am crazy! So here's an Uzi, shoot me maybe?"
10
@ 4, at this point I wouldn't say it's so far fetched anymore. You may not be able to relate to most people on this point, but once you start murdering children, people in the middle start shifting their opinions. And when your org's best response is what LaPierre suggested, you've really revealed your Achilles heel.

Now, that doesn't mean that the Brady center's dream slate of legislation is going to happen. Besides the reality of GOP control of the House, the Dems had long given up on this issue because there was no popular will for it. But major changes don't happen overnight.

I think the NRA's complete lack of preparedness for this - their overconfidence - is going to be their undoing. Really, your guys should have known that someone was going to massacre little kids sooner or later. It's happened before - I remember that guy who shot at a schoolyard in the late 80s. I guess they really believed that America's capacity for mass murder was unlimited.

I don't think so, Matt. The most anyone's going to get out of this is a reinstatement of the Clinton-era ban on some semiautos and high-cap mags (and even that will be tough going). That wasn't "meaningful" then, and certainly wouldn't be today.
12
Goldy doesn't even own a stick. How are we supposed to take him seriously about anything now?

Goldy, you clearly get up earliest out of everyone at Slog, and possibly out of everyone in the whole world, so you have no excuse for not having a good stick. Like they say, "first up, best stick," or, "the early stick guy gets the best stick of all the sticks." So do us all a favor, and go get yourself a good stick before your next post. It'll do you a world of good.
13
He's worse than crazy, he's French! How do all the gun people accept a leader with a name like that??
14
@ 11, I'm looking long-term, not short. Although even that would be a major loss for the NRA.
15
@11 - Believe me, we're all sorry that you were born with a small penis. And LaPierre, too.
16
How about this then.

A school teacher lectures on each subject 50 minutes a day, 5 days a week per subject or about 4 hours. Kids play violent video games 20 hours a week or more, every day and night.

In 4 hours a week, a teacher is expected to impart knowledge and a love of learning on complex subjects like science and history. Yet 20 hours of personal focus on violent gameplay has "no influence".

Who is crazier then...the head of the NRA or Global Liberals?
17
wow 5280, sounds like you're happy we can't enact gun controls, and lower the rate of murder and massacre the way england japan and australia have done.

I believe that over time, as these massacres continue, and as african americans flex their political power more to oppose the violence of drug trade, so harmful to the public, we will come to view the NRA 5280 and those owning bushmasters as the moral equivalent of drunk drivers, the cancer industry aka big tobacco, etc. Folks like 5280 know this:

-their political power blocks gun reforms
-we have 280 milion guns out there
--we're by far the least safe advanced nation, and
--these things are connected.

So blood on their hands, and judging from the most recent comments, he's happy with that.
18
I am a gun right supporter. But man, that dipshit got OWNED!!! And good too! Cuz his entire proposal is insanity! Yeah, let us make our public schools look more and more like prisons... Very cool, you fucking Orwellian fuck wad!
19
@16: I spend 6 to 8 hours every day sleeping, and only 1 or 2 hours a day eating. And yet I'm better at eating than at sleeping.
Go figure, maybe raw hour counts aren't the best measure of learning.
20
It's rather insulting to crazy. I believe they call this tyranny. Militarization of America through force. It's the only way they can stay relevant.

Please wait...
