In other tax scams, the major US professional & college sports leagues rake in billions while at the same time they get public subsidies and weasel nonprofit status from the IRS, and pay approximately ZERO in federal taxes.

It should have been. They aren't "manufacturing" anything in Ireland, and that's what's required for this to work under subpart F -- there are also huge intercompany pricing issues, asset valuation issues when the property was supposedly "transferred" offshore, and even an issue as to whether they in fact actually "transferred" any property to Ireland. We are, after all, talking about intangible property.

I regard them one and all as egregious tax cheats, on a worldwide basis.

Daily Show last night was spot on: who made the corporate tax code complicated if not the corporations and their lobbyists? They only want to repatriate now at little or no tax cost. They really aren't overwhelmed by its complexity.
