Another 50th anniversary—of much less import than this one—happened yesterday. The "longest floating bridge in the world," Seattle's Albert D. Rosellini Floating Bridge (aka 520), was opened half a century ago this week.
The bridge is not much longer for this world, and its replacement seems to get more expensive by the day. As a cost-saving measure, perhaps someone could dig up these never-to-be-improved-upon scissors and use them over again for the next bridge's ribbon cutting ceremony:
