Nothing good to say about him, but thanks for not gloating about it, Grant. Hope his victims and also his unsuspecting family can find some peace.
2
What @1 said.

Hope Trayvon Martin's murderer does the same, however.
3
That's not Green Lake!
4
@1 You say you have nothing to say about him yet you still made a comment on a blog. Weird. Also, I don't see what part of the post is "gloating". Seems more just informative. But hey, keep up your online presence.
5
If only he had done so a decade earlier. He could have saved 3 women a lifetime of nightmares.
6
@4 - what? Nothing "good" to say about "him".
And he thanked Grant "for not gloating about it".
You set our world straight - bully for you!
And keep up that online presence.

@6

Thanks for reading correctly. I appreciate you taking the time to make that comment.

Nobody wants to gloat? Evil motherfucker is dead. GOOD! I don't really want the death penalty, but good for him to DIY. And I don't believe in Hell, but he's burning in it. And I bet those three women are thrilled too.

To the guard that watched him every 30 minutes, thanks for making sure he knew exactly when to do it so his attempt would succeed.
9
I don't believe in a hell, besides what he provided to those women, so it seems to me that he didn't really get punished at all. Perhaps except the idea of spending all the rest of his days right in that cell. If that was what did it he was clearly weaker than the women who endured his captivity for a decade.
10
I'm one of those people who self righteously goes around saying things like;

"the desire to punish people for doing the wrong thing is primitive and achieves nothing positive,"

but I guess I'm full of it, because my first internal reaction to this news was of disappointment, (because he got out of suffering).

To this atheist, suicide seems like the easy way out. Castro deserved so much worse. I hope his last moments were terrifying and full of agony.
12
Ostensibly saves me some money. Good riddance.

The quality of mercy is not strain'd,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice.

So this man kept women in captivity for how many years but couldn't handle captivity himself? Where's my surprised face? I can't find it this morning...
15
Yeah, you anti-gloaters must be better souls than I, because I felt like that was the best news story I had read in a long time. It made my heart sing!
Think of those poor girls' relief in knowing that evil bastard is gone off of the face of the earth. Suicide is the only kindness he could have done them. Good Riddance.

@12 - Death Penalty on the cheap! (the life sentence was cheaper than imposing a court-sanctioned killing). I was in favor of him being locked up permanently as a self-protection measure - for the safety of society - not to somehow inflict retributive harm on him. His suicide seems a perfect solution to that issue.

I'm also an atheist, but nothing about suicide seems to me to be "the easy way out". I'm sure spending the duration of his life in a jail cell was a horrifying prospect and the shame and depression he felt due to his acts probably pushed him over the edge, but seriously: how sane was this guy in the first place? On the other hand, it's conceivable to me that, given some therapy and time, he might've had some kind of improved quality of life - he might've enjoyed some kind of interior life - and by killing himself, that's gone. So, you know, really, I'm fine with it, just about any way you slice it.

Coward
18
Sayonara, mother fucker.

I have no problem with people dancing on the grave of a monster.
19
The fact that he was a monster aside, I can't help but note this was another brown person, dying while under guard in one of our nations' prisons.
20
Good for him!
22
Fucking coward. @14 nailed it. Suicide was too quick and easy for this piece of shit. He deserved all of the mental and physical anguish he imparted on those girls, and then some.
23
all convicted murders who were convicted on non-circumstantial evidence (like video evidence, eye witnesses etc) should be given access to the means to kill themselves - cyanide etc. do society a favor
25
@16,

I highly doubt he felt shame.
26
That's fine, I'll be happy to gloat. My only problem is why was he seperated from the other prisoners? He should have been thrown in with the worst rapists so he could know what he'd done to those women.
27
@26: because the sentence wasn't rape or death by fellow prisoner. because jeffrey dahmer was killed by a fellow prisoner when in genpop. because theoretically, we do not inflict cruel and unusual punishment on prisoners, as much as that seems like justice in this case.

Please wait...
