That's income.

You're leaving out:

1) Stagnating real estate prices and rents (which benefit almost everyone, except, apparently, the readers of SLOG, who like getting paying more money for less square footage.)

2) The increasing difficulty of getting "guaranteed" returns on almost anything financial these days.

This sure sounds like the fallout from the Great Depression, which also had 90/10 capital/labor splits instead of the Middle Class creating 50/50 capital/labor splits that made America strong.
