Parks Major Maintenance is $267 million, estimated. Not that there is any computer program to actually track parks major maintenance needs. I do love that McGinn, in his most recent budget, proposes cutting parks by nearly $1 million, while increasing funding elsewhere by $39 million.

"Dennis Bounce" sounds like an opening act for Big Freedia.
3
I thought Cienna looked so young and hip when I saw her a few months ago at an event. She can't have been married multiple times...
4
"I feel like all of these questions are written by agoraphobic shut-ins" is spot on. But then, those may be the only ones who haven't got their minds made up already, so it suits this venue.
5
Are you sure this is Ed?

He's not glowering at people ...
6
Is that Ed Murray or Eddie Izzard?
7
Actually he is that tan - getting outdoors does that for you
8
Ed: I had to kill the viaduct to save it and build a tunnel you can't afford that I'll force Seattle to pay for while millionaires use it ...
9

Someone break out the Silly String for this borefest.

McSounders trying for a goal now
11
Oh God, it's these three?

Can we get some true progressives like Brendan on this motherfucker instead of three Whores For McGinn?
12

No one is asking the hard questions.

Here's one, for $20.

Newlyweds, if you had to compare your spouse on your wedding night, to "density" would you say they were:

1) Walkable
2) Bikeable
3) Driveable
4) WHOOPIE-able
13
Look they're talking about the arena now - I can't help it if the Ed Murraycaps team is not from Seattle
14
Viaduct Tunnel Taxes up now

Damn missed a goal on the Murraycaps just barely
15
Will in Seattle @ 8: I don't understand anything about the legislative process but that never stops me from sharing uninformed opinions.
16
Good Lord - I couldn't possibly keep up with drinking all the shots this blog is referring to. Plus, I'm out of Jim Beam!
17
Ed promising unicorns will puke money for inevitable cost overruns on the 99 tunnel right now and Dems will magically appear in the GOP state leg
18
@16 this is why I made a pitcher of margaritas - see my twitter feed
19
NOOOO! Vancouver 2-0 Seattle at the half!
20
Clapping as Mike points out we have had SPD and King County cops abusing communities of color for DECADES while rich peeps like Ed ignore it
21
Parking? Why ask a question for suburbanites who Don't get to Vote in Seattle on our Mayor?

Question 9,237
Part A
Subtext iii

Mr. McGinn or Murray, toss up:

If a person were taking transit, and their abode wasn't in a suitably dense part of town, and they made eye contact with a Benajmin Cumberbatch lookalike across the aisle and started a conversation, should they lie and say yes, you'd squeal if I told you the population density of my block or try and dance around the topic and reveal your age, saying, I bought a 125 sq. ft. condo before they were called apodments!

You may use a Lifeline!

Dom wins for Who Running For 10th City Council Seat comment

And you broke the bold tag close
24
Ed is Michelle Bachman. how hard is it to look into the right camera?
25
Um, Dom, your tag is open....
26
Closing!
27

Hey Dom, close your tag. You missed the first
28
McGinn seems to have a lot of strong opinions on what needs to be done in Olympia. When Murray wins, Pedersen will likely go up to the Senate and there'll be an open House seat. Perhaps McGinn should run for that, and he can put all his ideas about what the state needs to do into practice.
29
This is so exciting. I used to read The Stranger for the Arts, but i never realized how exciting local politics are. Keep up the exciting coverage.
30
@28 Kshama Sawant should run for that seat. She'd stand a good chance of winning.
31
@30: Murray's replacement will be selected by the PCOs of the 43rd district. And if they move Pedersen up then they get to select who replaces him.

Because she's not a Dem she won't get the appointment. She would have to run against whoever is selected to fill out the remainder of the term...who will then have the strength of incumbency.
32
Cienna, Dom, and Goldy: thanks for all the hilarity and insight. Had to miss the debate due to a meeting, so loved getting a live action summary.
33
Did McGinn come out wearing a Sonics warm-up or mention his efforts to bring the NBA back ? Sorry I was working.
34
http://www.king5.com/news/politics/McGin… Video is up for those who want to relive the battle.
35
So rather than listen to the candidates and make up our own minds we're supposed to have the questions and answers filtered through the Stranger's team of McGinn apologists.

Keep up the great journalism, folks!
36
@35 The debates are posted on king 5's site, buddy. Make up your mind to your heart's content.
37
Fun debate. I have little doubt that if everyone in this city watched it we'd have a McGinn landslide on our hands.
38
@37 is correct.

But there was a Sounders game.

Which we lost 4-1.
39
Luckily, elections aren't decided by the handful of cocksuckers that take the Stranger seriously.
40
80% of the anti-McGinn people here are going to be hedging two years from now about their votes for Murray. What a hack. And quit already with saying McGinn has been soft on the cops. It is clear here that Murray's main law enforcement objective is just to get government off the back of the police union.
41
No surprises in the comments made by The Stranger. Cienna thinks Murray lost because she doesn't like the way he looks. Dom thinks his entire legislative record is horrendous and that he should own every attack made against him because debating McGinn is dirty and mean. Nothing McGinn could've said or done would've received criticism by either.
42
I was wrapped up in the Twitterverse (and the conversation on my own couch) throughout the debate, but it was a lot of fun to read your live-slog after the fact.
43
@41, no, I think he lost because he comes across as whiny, wooden, and unsubstantive. The eyebrows didn't help.

Please wait...
