1
Why is it that we are supposed to respect everyone's religious beliefs again?
2
Oy.
3
Funny how murderers like these two people never stop abiding by their stupid belief that diseases can be magically cured even when they see the evidence of a dead child.

I hope the state takes the kids away from these two before they murder another child, as they surely will if left to their own devices.
4
Well I guess that a 77.7 percent survival rate for offspring isn't too bad.
5
Evolution in action.
6
This is one of the few instances where mandatory sterilization is in order.
7
This plus the snake dancing pastor... Bad week for the Pentacostals.
8
@4- I'm sure it would be a lot lower if they didn't have food stamps to prevent malnutrition.
9
A few of these kids are likely to leave the family as soon as they can to become interesting and productive adults. It's sad that some didn't make it long enough.
10
Yeah, or maybe these kids would have grown up to breed and multiply in the same nutty traditions, spreading ignorance and nonsense. Maybe now the remaining 7 will go to homes where they learn a different way of life.
11
I'm not applauding their death as heartlessly as that sounded.
12
@7: Right?
13
The fools! Everyone knows that you have to accidentally shoot your kids if you want to avoid conviction!
14
"Parents'" rights run amok. If the state has an interest in keeping religious nutters from killing their children, then how is it these parents still had anyone under the age of 18 living in their home?

@13,

Or have the kids accidentally shoot each other.
15
These stories always leave me spinning from @ 3's reaction to @ 5's.
16
From the article:

"Their pastor, Nelson Clark, has said the Schaibles lost their sons because of a "spiritual lack" in their lives and insisted they would not seek medical care even if another child appeared near death."

Yep, keep on spinning.
17
We see the same thing operating at the national level regarding the impact of climate change. Why should this be any surprise to see this on the individual level in the United States
18
Only 20?? They should get that just for their stupidity. Dead children should drag sentencing into the bonus round.
19
Perhaps they should be dropped off a very high cliff, to see if they can pray gravity away.
20
Evolution? What kind of fucking asshole looks at the negligent death of an innocent child and praises it as the work of evolution?

Maybe when you set your house on fire we'll stand back and watch it burn with you inside instead of sending the fire department. Because "evolution".
21
I know I'm probably putting too much thought into this but if these people believe that an omnipotent God created everything why can't they just believe that he created doctors, the materials needed for penicillin, etc.
Like that faith healer: you get bit by a snake, pray to God to save you, He sends you paramedics with anti-venom in the nick of time and you send the away.
When you get to Heaven, God's gonna be like "WTF dude?!? What are you doing here! I sent those guys to save you! Are you stupid?!"
22
Jesus says that sick people should go see a doctor.
"On hearing this, Jesus said, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.'" (Matthew 9:12)
Those idiots aren't just bad people, they're bad Christians.
23
@19, that's good stuff
24
That last statement needs to be "the couple HAD seven other children."

Why do they get an excuse to keep children in an abusive environment?
25
After the death of the first child, it should have been a wake-up call that Jesus doesn't love their family enough. They aren't good enough people for divine intervention. So, they should start using doctors. Seriously, he's just not that into you - take the hint already before Jesus needs to get a restraining order against you.
26
@21: I like the theory that God will say "I who created all things, including that anti-venom, am outraged that you would reject my gifts! Why don't you just go to hell... Ooops, there goes another one..."
27
What the fucking fuckity fuck? Why the hell weren't their remaining children taken away from them after they negligently killed the first kid? They had to kill a second kid before the state finally decided to end this travesty? They are obviously deranged, and unfit to care for a cat, much less a child.

* head explodes *
28
actually the last statement needs to be "the couple HAS seven other children."

god people, is english your second language?
29
They killed two kids, and got 3.5-7 years.
30
Think they'll still tithe 10% of their license plate-making earnings from in prison? You can bet their pastor will tell them prison is no excuse for not ponying up.
31
This couple should win an even more depressing version of the Darwin award, for stupid people who still manage to proliferate their genes.

Please wait...
