Meanwhile, y'all going to write about Goldy leaving your paper?
2
Watching Emily Heffter's Twitter feed devolve to tweets about homes for sale has been depressing. It's sad to see the Times lose even more talent.
3
Did I miss a Slog post about Goldy leaving? I get the feeling it was a little fraught, but, jesus, I know more about the turnover at the Times than I do here. Not even a blip?
4
I understand that the situation with Goldy leaving might be a little sensitive, but a post about it would be nice. Just anything: Did he quit or was he fired? Is the speculation about disagreements regarding Kshama Sawant in any way warranted? Jesus, is anyone on the staff going to MISS him, or are you all content with giving the impression that you won't? Seems pretty cold to not say anything.
5
Are there even more layoffs coming to the Stranger that you won't bother to write about?

6
The difference between the Times and the Stranger right now?

The Times is hiring reporters.
7
Goldensteinenberg crawled back up Sawan's ass, the place from whence he came.
8
Hey, folks. Goldy is no longer employed at The Stranger. We can't go into details about personnel matters. But Goldy wrote about it on Horse's Ass. And I do miss him. I wrote on Twitter the same day: "I'm going to miss working with @GoldyHA. He's a brilliant writer and I wish him the best." As for his positions or support of Sawant (who we all backed and still support), they just play zero factor, but Goldy did write on his blog about some of the stuff he couldn't write at The Stranger.
9
@8 You're good guy. Thx for that clue and a link to an entry that would have graced SLOG. We miss Goldy and the passion he brought to the job.
10
Calling the Times "Seattle's big daily paper" is a bit of a stretch. Take out the Macy's and Cavalia ads and it would be about 10 pages of mostly AP feeds. (Well, OK, there's the sports section, but I don't read that.)
11
Poor 'Nic stepped in it here! Writing about Times personnel changes (without really a clue about the readings) while clamming up tight about Goldy leaving.
12
Who's Goldy? Can I have his parking spot?
13
@8, so we can infer he was fired for his TNC rabble rousing? How petty. Slog is so much lamer without him.
14
Goldy left because The Stranger pays less than $15/hour.
15
Such silly bitter tears about people leaving a sinking yesteryear business (regardless of the gender): the big city newspaper. It's about time that The Seattle Times dissolved into the interwebs, as did the Seattle P.I. Yes, unfortunate, but we don't miss horse and buggies either.

Every print edition of the Seattle Times is only nominally interesting. It's always a melancholy experience, yearning for what a newspaper used to be.

The Seattle Times building should be razed and replaced with a luxury hotel, condos, expensive shops, and yet another Whole Foods.
16
I logged on here hoping I'd read something about what's (not) going on in Oly, since tomorrow's the last day of the session. No, instead, there's a music post.

Please please PLEASE do more political reporting. You're all competent to do so (well, most of you) and we have nowhere else to go.
17
Yes to @16. Where else do we go for real local news that isn't crap? And for @15, it's only a matter of time before all of the Times building by Denny & Fairview becomes a gigantic overpriced condo! Along with every other freaking plot of land in Seattle!
18
@13: or maybe Goldy left because the lawyers for the Stranger said you cannot flat out say that lyft, sidecar and uber are operating illegally w/out opening yourself to up to some very costly lawsuits.

You know what chills freedom of the press and causes way more self-censorship than anything the gubmint does? The threat of lawsuits.

19
Of course, the Times has a woman editor and women as assistant managing editors (including a black woman). The allegedly progressive Stranger is still run exclusively by white guys.
20
Never mind about "where do we go": Goldy's writing about politics on HA.
21
@8

I don't think you should go into personnel matters. The supposed pursuit of what happened seems like it's just digging for gossip. But an acknowledgment on Slog would have been nice--yet no one seems to have posted anything about his departure.
22
And the departures from the Stranger include Goldy, Madrid, Seling, and West, and perhaps Sanders--though he seems to be posting once a day, so whatever that means.
23
Slog has become very dull since Goldy left :-(:-( I used to read every post every day; now I'm skipping over almost everything. A whole lot of words expended for saying nothing that requires any thoughts whatsoever. DULL DULL DULL! :-(:-( Might as well be reading the local mainstream birdcage liners.
25
Obligatory hack defense of the Seattle Times from "bigyaz" @19, our resident Times management shill.
26
@8 - It's not that I want or need the details about why he left, but a post noting that he has left (in the same way we got a post about Cienna's departure) would have been nice. This strange silence from the staff of The Stranger has been disconcerting, and it's no wonder that the commenters here suspect that something is up. He wrote here for years, bringing his own cadre of readers from HA, and quickly became a favorite of Slog's own resident commenters and trolls. You should probably acknowledge the fact that he has left and that he will be missed here, and you don't have to go into details. The silence is easily interpreted as sweeping Goldy under the rug, hoping we won't notice his abrupt departure.
27
And now Cheryl Phillips, ace investigative editor is bailing out of the Times for Stanford. Let's face it. Old Fairview Fanny has a problem with how they treat women. Three disability lawsuits too.

Please wait...
