But they're willing to pay $12/hr minimum wage for the H2A labor out in Burlington WA/Skagit County ! See, 15Now is working.

It is a fact that the Washington minimum wage is $9.19 per hour and the H2A minimum wage for our local region is $12.00 per hour – that is Federal Law. It is a fact that because we have an approved H2A contract, we pay all of our seasonal piece rate berry pickers a minimum of $12.00 per hour, regardless of classification as H2A or domestic – that is Federal Law.

I can't fear-based torment the farm bringing in H1B workers just because steve sakura's grandma got sent to minidoka?

but fear-based tormenting is what I LIVE FOR.

@Ansel, also, generally when a legal case is "dismissed without prejudice" it means that there was a procedural error by whomever initiated the action and that the action CAN be resubmitted. "Dismissed WITH prejudice" is when the judge finds no merit in the charge or the suit and wishes to prevent re-filing (though it often can be appealed to a higher court). Not sure about the specifics of the case mentioned above. http://www.illinoislegalaid.org/index.cf…

@5: Good point. It was with prejudice, not without. Corrected.

Interesting, back in the day I was one of the local kids that did summer work in the Skagit Valley farms. You were paid by the amount you picked.

Don't know if we even made near minimum wage but it did pay better than a paper route I had worked.

I have no problem with Mexican guest workers from Mexico picking berries, and I think strikes in the food supply chain are ok as long as the obvious wound in the food supply is scabbed over adequately by Mexican guest workers from Mexico who need some cash
