The Pulitzer citation was perfect:
"For her visual arts criticism that, with elegant and vivid description, informs readers about how to look at the complexities of contemporary art and the world in which itβs made."
For which, Jen, and The Stranger, many thanks.
@6, you've reached a new landmark in your search for Total Creepiness. I guess it's a blessing that you're not talking about twelve-year-olds again, or something.
Congratulations to Jen. I don't really "get" art per se, but I've learned a lot by reading her posts, and I'm thrilled that The Stranger now has two writers whose names are associated with the word "Pulitzer".
I forgot to add...for every Snow White there are 1000 dwarves.
Really, it seems like any time there is the hint of a "pretty girl" showing up in Seattle, you get a crowd of male gnats flipping out like a herd of Jerry Lewises. They themselves have no idea how to approach a women, but at the same time they seem to not want anyone else to do so. And lest you think this my imagining, I have friends who have said as much when they were on the prowl.
And, as much as I hate to mar a congratulatory thread by mentioning him, I gotta say, damn, Bailo, the new pic really captured the doofiness of your face extraordinarily well.
Gee, wouldn't it be swell if a woman could someday accomplish something without a completely skeevy assessment of her beauty? Someday. Someday, we may forget that the world is somebody's vending machine of potential sexual partners.
Oh so delighted that Jen G. (PuPriFi) is getting such recognition. Her consistent intelligence and welcome sincerity are deserving of a Pulitzer every year.
@MacCrocodile: Less skeeviness in general would sure be swell (good luck with that!), but I personally don't find it difficult to appreciate beauty and talent all at the same time.
Hey, Congratulations, Jen! You interviewed me outside Hiawatha Artspace Lofts on Friday. Now I am EVEN MORE EXCITED that I got interviewed by the Stranger!!
Kickass! The Stranger as a whole does really great work and I'm happy to see when anyone on the staff is honored. But she is the only full time art critic for a weekly? That is sad--not for The Stranger, but journalism in general.
It's always a treat to read a review or critical analysis written by Jen Graves, and it's exciting for her and the Stranger that her writing's been recognized in this way. Congratulations!

For some reason I can't stop thinking about this though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y06PoMHB…
Seattle would be my kind of town...if the ratio of her type to shirtless dudes wasn't 1:10,000.
(I'm assuming she's heterosexual and single...if not, then her twin sister.)
BTW, Jen Graves is married.
Jen Graves is one of the greatest people on the planet.
And we would assume Mr. Bailo to be heterosexual and single.

Gee that didn't take long.
Even Pavlov would have been stunned.

A pretty girl....a pretty girrll.
HEY LADDDDDDEEEEEE!!!! GAAAAAHHHHH
You deserve every good thing that comes your way.
She is awesome.
Pulitzer awards 21 people per year (and approx 100 finalists). So being a finalist is not too shabby.
