It's a losing issue. The majority of Americans are for marriage equality, and that number is only growing. The republican base is against, but that number is shrinking. Republican candidates will need to 'evolve' on this issue to stay competitive nationally, but they can't evolve yet without pissing off their base.

Or briefly, this is what you get when you build a brand around being a hateful fucktard.

"It's just a messaging issue."
3
not to defend the politic guy but I would be willing to bet that if you scientifically measured the amount of "hate" embodied by pconstant or the average slog commenter you would end up with an equal or greater amount than the target politician.

I bet Rick Perry has more hate in his little finger.
6
He has nothing against gay people. It's the gah people that he thinks are bringing this country down.

Why are you in the liberal media always trying to put words in Santorum's mah?

"As president, I want to promote strong, committed marriages. Unless they are between two people of the same gender; then it's up to the states."
8
Stay the fuck out of my personal life, you fecal-matter slime. But by all means, run for president and entertain us all with you idiocies.
9
But he's so handsome!
10
@9: well dressed, too.

"As President ... " Dream on, slimeboy, dream on.

He's not going to say anything in public that will lose him votes. He'll say it in private, and after 2012, the Republicans will be damned careful about who they let into their private parties (including waiters with phones).
13
Dude just needs to give in and suck a dick already.

He's saying that the answer to our economic problems is the preservation of "traditional" marriage? Even my ultra-conservative family members will call bullshit. (Also, he proposes using taxpayer money to promote his belief - I don't see conservatives warming up to that either)

Please wait...
