My neighbor has been keeping his cleaning equipment (and some waste) outside on the patio of his apartment and the fumes have been coming into my living room.
I made a verbal complaint on Sunday and on Monday the apartment complex filed a notice to them to correct the problem. Legally, in Washington State, they have 10 days to comply. And they have yet to do so.
I just confirmed with the apartment manager they have done everything they are legally required to do. If after 10 days the neighbor does not comply, they can take action to remove the chemicals, etc.
Is something wrong with this picture? For 10 days the neighbor can legally continue to keep these horrible fumes coming into my apartment and the law will take no action!
@1: You can probably deal with this as a private tort between yourself and that tenant and get a separate restraining order. And if they are actually hazardous (causing injury to you), you can probably call the city or the police to take action.
@1
If you suspect that any of the cleaning materials might be hazardous/dangerous and not stored properly, then of course you have the DUTY to inform the Fire Department (and Apartment Management) to tell them that there might be a fire/safety issue.
(And people sneer at single-family houses with lots of room between you and your neighbors.)
If someone is as rich as Bezos, why bother voting?
You can BUY politicians.
I don't think that Bezos does it illegally -- he is too smart and probably too honest -- but there are so many ways to legally influence. At his level of access, why vote except as a symbol that he is just "plain folks". Like Bill.
I'm excited! June 18th! 3D phones. That's in 14 days, two weeks. Mark your calendars fellow Sloggers. Thanks for the hot tip Stranger! Fuck I can't wait.
I called the Kent Police non-emergency number, but there is effectively nothing they can do about it, but the officer was nice and suggested what you did, to call the Fire Department.
"Almost done" with Game of Thrones? I've read that book like half a dozen times. Or did you mean A Song of Ice and Fire, the series that starts with GoT? (Yes, I'm going to be that pedantic, because you're The Stranger's book guy, fer chrissake, you should know the difference.)
And when there's at least two more books due out, that could mean anything. Fans of the series should not believe they're "almost done" if history is any judge. It took GRRM over a decade to get out books 4 and 5, after all. God only knows how long it will take him to get out the next two (or three).
Here's the latest in smell news.

I will proceed.
