Adam Weinstein at Gawker writes, "Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), a rising star in the national Republican Party, confirmed reports Monday on the neo-Nazi website Stormfront that he had presented at a 2002 white supremacist conference organized by KKK bigwig and ex-Republican legislator David Duke."

Scalise's spokesperson tried to explain away the white supremacist angle by saying at that time, Scalise "made himself available to anyone who wanted to hear his proposal to eliminate slush funds that wasted millions of taxpayer dollars as well as his opposition to a proposed tax increase on middle-class families."

I'll be interested to see if Scalise suffers any blowback from this. If he does, then it's time for the Republican Party to talk about Rand Paul's white supremacist ties. Of course, I don't expect this matter to go much further, because Republicans need the racist vote to maintain any chance of winning elections. Scalise probably won't have to suffer the consequences of his actions.
