Ah.... the ego of a rich man...Great photo of him playing astronaut, though.
2
What kind of vacation is that? This nerd says, "an enviable one."
3
That's kind of a dildoey rocket.
4
I saw the rocket compared to the famous Hitachi Magic Wand, Cadillac of vibrators.
5
Probably worth pointing out the massive satellite-based internet venture he's building in Seattle that will pay for his space program. You know, because journalism.

That said, thanks for the piece. I'll make sure to be careful near bushes from Texas.

ayy lmao

Come on now...
What's with the assumption that it's a quill pen?
It makes more sense for it to just be a feather.
(You know... as a flight reference?)
8
Shepard? Can Bezos not spell, or is it named for someone?
9
@8:

Possibly, it's a nod to Alan Shepard, first United Statesian in space?
10
(oops. got my rich guy pet project space programs reversed. which is totally embarrassing after that level of snark.)
11
@9 correct
12
@5, what's going to pay for the massive satellite-based internet venture he's building?
13
Isn't that sweet. After ripping off creditors for a billion or so in bankruptcy our little parasite has boom boom toys.
14
I'm very pro-science, and I love Star Trek. But I feel that we should clean up our act here on Earth before we try imposing ourselves on other planets.
15
@14:

Why can't we do both?
16
Comte dear, we probably could, but we undoubtedly won't. Just take a look around.
17
@12 Google and Fidelity invested the first billion (and to be clear, that's Elon Musk's project - the Tesla/Paypal guy).
18
Maverick seems pretty proud of his new penis.

Most impressive part was the landing on solid ground (something the Russians, but not US were known for) at the speed of a falling feather.

The rocked used a "liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen BE-3 engine" that "worked flawlessly".

Nice to see liquid fueled rockets (making a comeback?).

Blue Origin had some interesting words to say previously about hydrogen as a fuel.

I just wonder if he's got enough of it over in Kent Valley (their HQ is on 212th Street) to set up a station for Mirai and Tuscon FCEVs.

I don't care how much money he has, I think it's cool he's doing this. He also does a lot of donating to non profits, rich Seattle guys rock.

@19: If you paid attention, you might have known that the Space Shuttle (and the Saturn V) used liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as well. Old hat, albeit a well-executed old hat. There are also good reasons for using hydrogen as a fuel in rockets that don't apply to automotive transportation or the energy grid.

That's a falcon feather. Like the feather used in this experiment (Apollo 15).
