I'm kind of surprised that Eli didnt' follow up with Campanos on her non-response to his request for specific numbers at 11:10. Lots of talk about numbers and how the district's numbers are wrong, but a little surprised that she wouldn't specify the union's number. Hmmm.....

That would be journalism. (As would "reaching out" to a district representative as well as the union.) Sanders doesn't even know the word, never mind practice the trade.

@2. I was surprised because Eli is a terrific journalist. Both he and Jen graves should be working nationally. Normally Eli catches holes like that and, diplomatically, jumps on them, this my surprise that he missed it.

I'm pro teacher and pro Union and pro strike, but I was really disappointed in Campanos. She didn't get specific about anything important, was opaque where she should have been transparent.

I'm undecided on this strike, pro teacher and strongly suspicious of unions.

But that wasn't the point. Sanders and really The Stranger in toto aren't propagandist hacks because I disagree with their lefty worldview. They aren' t journalists because they aren't interested in the story. They're only ever interested in whatever they wanted the story to be and the facts be damned.

If Sanders was any kind of journalist (and he most assuredly isn't) the district and the union perspectives would have been included. One is maybe of less objective value than the other? Fine. A journalist would make that claim with the facts supporting him.

Sanders is a hack. A propagandist. A polemicist. He is NOT a journalist.

As for Graves she's a food and art critic. What's national scope reporting about that?

Please wait...
