It might be useful to wait six months and find out how many of the people responding to these polls vote in an actual election. Just a thought.

@1, but he's the designated "Hilary hit piece" writer and needs an outlet for mean-spirited pictures of her.

We get it, Rich, you've been asked by the editors to post mean articles about Hilary (like those amaaaazing posts on her music playlists). Not sure why it fell to you. Maybe no one else would do it. Maybe because you're the new guy.

Really looking forward to another year of them, though. You're going to make a name for yourself as a great journalist.

Also, it's "how do they fare," not "how do they fair."

The pollsters find that Trump's core support comes from poople who believe we'd be better off with less diversity and a worse economy, and so endorse his view on immigration.

I think it's pretty clear that immigration adds to the GDP. No-one disputes that. And I'll even buy that their effect on tax receipts is neutral or even positive.

However, I think it's also very clear that the economic benefits that illegal immigrants bring to the country accrue primarily to people who are already doing pretty well (aside from the immigrants themselves, who are clearly have greater economic opportunities here). To the extent that college educated people can afford to dine out on a regular basis, enjoy cheap and plentiful produce, meat and dairy, and can hire gardeners to mow their lawns, that clearly reflects economic benefit in the form of cheap services that immigrants supply by flooding the low-wage labor market.

Notice who gets shit on so that you can enjoy all of these goods and services at such a cheap price: basically any native American worker with a high school education or less. Illegal immigration is literally stealing from the poor to give to the rich.

Excuse me if I happen to think we owe our own working people a good, healthy wage and work environment first. Then when that's done, maybe we can look at fixing the rest of the world's problems.

But then, all those comfortable pro-illegal immigration professional types might have to actually mow their own lawn or cook their own dinner every once in a while. And we can't have that!
