The Cardinals are a really good team, as long as Palmer keeps playing at this level, the Cards are going to be a strong force in the NFC West for years to come. They may be the most balanced team in the league.
The real question is, how to feel about the defense last night? Sure, they gave up more points than they ever had in the "Legion of Boom" era (as it were), but at the same time, they were the only thing keeping Seattle in the game with the turnovers and defensive touchdowns.
Not all hope is lost. 9 wins might make the playoffs in the NFC. 10 will for sure. The next 6 opponents are very beatable. And the Cardinals may not be playing for anything in Week 17.
@6 Goddammit, DOUG. Like every other Seattleite, I was ready to drop off 1400 lbs of Seahawks jerseys and fan paraphernalia at Goodwill and doze off for the next dozen years. Now you're telling me I gotta wait one more weekend? Spike, say it ain't so!
This was a great freaking read, even better than usual. "I like football a lot more than I'd like to" sums up my feelings pretty succinctly. Like Spike, I had sports fandom instilled in me at a pretty young age and that's a tough demon to exorcise, even while recognizing how much idiocy and hypocrisy is involved.
I'm with @6 and think a playoff berth is entirely achievable. Would require a mini-collapse from either Minnesota, Green Bay or Atlanta, any of which seem possible. Something called playoffstatus.com puts them at a 24% chance of qualifying, which I'd call maybe even a bit low.
It's hard to believe I once thought this team would win 10 straight after going 0-2. I think they may be a 9-7 team and not a 7-9 team, which still probably isn't enough for the playoffs. They'll lose to Arizona the second time, and to Minnesota. I think the other games are all winnable, but they've lost several games they should have won so far, so they could easily find a way to lose 2 more. Pittsburgh? St. Louis a second time? Who knows.
"I like football a lot more than I'd like to" definitely captures my mood during and after this game.
Meanwhile, the resurgent Bears are 4-5 and might actually have a chance. Their next two games against the Broncos and the Packers were considered automatic losses, but both those teams have collapsed in recent weeks. We will face Brock Osweiler, not Peyton Manning, and the Packers just lost to the LIONS (whose only previous win came against us, in Detroit, in overtime, and with a LOT of help from the refs). If we manage to win the next two, we'll be in the running for a playoff berth. Still a long shot, but John Fox has really turned this team around and there is more improvement yet to come.
I guess I'm the big winner.

7-9.
