Aunt Pittypat Graham was the one I despised least. I can't say I like him (too hawkish) but I don't feel the urge to punch his face. He's not a loathsome rat-weasel in the same way as Cruz.

Indeed, Graham's withdrawal is a nothingburger. I do have to say, he might've successfully prevented the GOP from going isolationist...Trump has flirted with talking about wasteful mil spending, and Rand Paul was single issue on this. I don't think Graham ever expected to win, but he needed to stay in long enough to make sure the Neocon planks remained firmly in place.

I am sure Graham's immediate family is devastated.

Stephen Colbert will no doubt be doing another Hunger Games impression to mock the Tribute who couldn't.

I'm not sure what alternate reality universe Lindsey was in to think that he had any chance whatsoever in the first place. Oh well, so much for the country's first (or second) closeted POTUS.
6
Say what you will about Lindsey's policy beliefs, and they're generally awful, at least he seems to have somewhat of a belief in governance. I suspect he's somewhat of a wonk deep inside. It's sad that there is literally 0% of the Republicans being polled that seem to care about that.

I dunno, the demographics of things still are not on Trumps side. Among Republicans his fans almost all do not have college degrees. The same people did not like Romney in 2012 and he still won the nomination because those with more education actually turn up to vote. Having L-dawg drop out does not immediately consolidate the more-educated wing of the party, but it is a step on that road. The question is does a Rubio win that winnowing or does a Cruz? Or does personal ambition win and Trump dominate in a divided field? Anyone who tells you they know the answer to that with any certainty is lying.

As much as his "invade everyone, boots on the ground everywhere" foreign policy stances were frightening, he was the only candidate -- out of 18 or so! -- who had significant foreign policy experience to come anywhere close to rivaling Hillary's. Nothing compares to SoS, but at least 20+ years of committee experience could give him a credible claim. Yeah, Rubio's been on the Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committees for a term (but never shows up and skips special briefings), and Ted Cruz has been on the Armed Services Committee for 2/3rds of a term, but none of the rest have even an ounce of foreign policy experience.

I have lots of things against Graham, and his personal relationships aren't one of those things.

BUT, I'm amazed that given the homophobia and hate in the GOP that so little has been made of such an obviously closeted candidate?

Please wait...
