Or... the game didn't matter to a team that had already secured their position so they laid off.

No doubt that Seattle laid a beating down on Arizona (Agrippa's valid point notwithstanding, Palmer was not even playing in the second half). While the pass to Kearse was certainly a great pass, an over the shoulder TD pass like that happens a few times a week in the NFL. Calm down.

Seattle had a bad game last week, a good one this week. They should probably beat Minnesota though. Minnesota's offense is garbage.

There is no more important "stat" in the NFL than points. By becoming the first defense in the Super Bowl era to lead the NFL in scoring for four consecutive seasons, these current Seahawks have proved to be the greatest defense in the history of the NFL.

How many yards did Adrian Peterson have the last time the Seahawks played the Vikings? 18? I hope they hold him to fewer on Sunday. How about 12?

Go Hawks!

@3 for once you're probably right. I don't know who I'd root for; Newton's mugging is insufferable.

@1, 2: they didn't lay off until it was obvious that: 1. Carolina was going to paste the Bucs, and 2. they were getting their asses kicked.

If any team had nothing to play for on Sunday, it was the Seahawks.
7
Spike, I really look forward to your analysis. Today was scintillating.

players view these games differently than fans. most know it is a business. a lot of players on all of the teams are playing to add to their stats for any upcoming contract negotiation and/or potential holdout leverage in the off-season. a lot of them are playing for 'playing time' and staying on the field. only a few view these as meaningless.

on sunday the seattle D-line was hungry and fired up and beat their opposites consistently. . bennett, avril, irvin looked angry and fast.

we also seem to have the stupid offised/illegal motion penalty bug licked.

pete has a system in place and sticks to it and the results show it works over the long haul and when it counts. we're seeing a run that wont be repeated in Seattle sports for a long, long time. enjoy every minute of it!

I'll miss these recaps almost as much as the games in the offseason.

Looking forward to Jermaine's truck commercials!

This weekend could see all four wild card teams win. The Packers, Seahawks, and Chiefs have to be considered favorites to beat Washington, the Vikings, and the Texans, and the Steelers could definitely beat the Bengals.
Definitely looks set to see the Panthers vs the Seahawks in two weeks. Looking forward to it.

@12: if Dalton's out, then I'd say the Stillers are a lock. And I'm a Bengals fan. Or I was.
14
@13,

Pittsburgh just got beat by a terrible Ravens team and barely got past an abysmally bad Cleveland team in a must win game. And are now without their top two backs. I'd take the Bengals in a heartbeat. And I'm a Steeler fan.
15
@14: maybe they could both lose? mum's the word from the head coach on Dalton's medical exam today - I presume we'll hear tomorrow.
16
thanks for the warm fuzzies, Spike. the sports bar in B'ham i was watching in spontaneously combusted as we heard the THUNK of the ball hitting the upright as the half expired.
17
@12: Actually, the current betting line in the Redskins/Packers WC game is Redskins -1.

Green Bay as been terrible lately while the Skins, led by the red hot Kirk Cousins, are on fire at the moment.
18
@17: Ugh, fuck Washington. I wish only bad things on them. I have confidence that the Packers will win, but maybe it's just hope.

Please wait...
